The AddReOccuring recordings utility has been added to the Wiki.

When I watch LiveTV, video is too slow for watching while audio is working perfect. I figured it could be because of the buffering to disk, but why would audio be no problem at all?

Anyway, is there a way to disable buffering and to watch tv directly from the card? I don't care about timeshifting.

If it's not the buffer, what's the most common reason for slow video? My comp. has no problems at all when I watch a divx for example, so I don't think it's the disk or comp. speed..


edit: nevermind, I just saw at the wiki that it's impossible to disable this 'feature'

Just to let everyone know I am still working on this, I had hoped to get a release out to coincide with the new version of gbpvr but people's mad panic before christmas has meant I have been very busy at work, plus I have just built my new HTPC machine and have been twiddling with that.

I am hopefully going to get a release ready for christmas, I am just adding a few graphical options to the screens and a few more things to the settings page

This is very strange. I have got everything working with the latest GBPVR (v0.23.13). Except that whichever plugin I use to play music; Music Albums, Music Library or JukeBox. It plays the first track then the little stop icon appears in the top left of the screen and it stops. If I manually skip back & forth through the play list it happily goes on to the next and previous tracks.

I have tried both with the shipped dongle.bin & with the dongle.bin from 2.2.22317. It works fine with the standard Hauppage software.

I have looked through the debug logs and can see nothing obviously wrong. If I run on the PC then it works fine.

Any Ideas? I really don't want to have to switch back to the standard Hauppage software as GBPVR Rocks!

for the channels here in germany I downloaded some channel logos from
Speedbomb.de

The logos there are either 64 x 64 pixels or 82 x 82 pixels.
All as png.

The problem now is that the logos get distorted (stretched horizontally).

Is there any way to prevent the stretching ?
I read somewhere that I must remove some kind of information from the png ?
Is that right and if yes what must be removed ?

Does it help if I convert the png files into a jpg with Corel Draw 9 ?

Or the other way round :
What is the best resolution / color depth of channel logos for GBPVR ?

is it planned to extend the xrecord plugin with an onscreen keyboard ?

If not......
Would it be allowed that I try to implement an onscreen keyboard in it and post the new plugin here ?

Is it allowed to use the sources of xrecord and findfast to do this ?

I've tried to read all the forum to learn what I can -  there's a lot of stuff out there.  I guess the biggest thorn in my side (or, maybe it's the pea under my mattresses) has to do with "conflicts".  I get enough of that in my real life and from Lost, Desperate Housewives and Alias.

I don't really remember how GBPVR resolves them - first one scheduled gets recorded, or last one scheduled gets recorded or maybe neither of those is correct.  In any case, I've resorted to manually verifying the programs I want to record show in red in the TV Guide listing.  Let me propose an idea to help automate the resolution.

Add a "priority" to each program scheduled.  This could be a number from 1-10 (or 1-100, or anything) with, let's say, 10 being the most important.  A value of 5 could be assigned to everything by default.  If users decide they don't want to take advantage of this feature they wouldn't have to change this priority and conflicts would be resolved as before.  Nothing would change.

In my case I would assign a value of 4 to Friends and 2 to Good Eats.  Lost, LAX, Desperate Housewives would get 5 or maybe 7.  Alias, of course gets the most important priority!

GBPVR would go about building its recording schedule as usual but would have one more routine available when a conflict is encountered: the program with the highest priority would get scheduled.

Yes, it's possible, even with this priority system, a conflict would occur at user specified priorities,  They would be handled the same as before the system was in place (and the same as conflicts are resolved at the default level.)  Basically, nothing would change in that case.  With 10 priorities the conflicts could be greatly reduced.

This way, I won't have to worry about which order I entered my schedule.  I'll get all the episodes of Friends unless something with a higher priority is in conflict.  Maybe the producers can resolve all the character conflicts for me.

Is there something like this already implemented, or has this been suggested before?  I'm interested to hear what people have to say about it.

I wanna find an easier way to cut out the commercials permanently from the files themselves. Is there a video editor out there that will take a list of cut points (like the kind generated by comskip) and use them to automatically cut out the commercials and produce a new file?

New to GBPVR, thinking of migrating from BeyondTV becuase i dont like being railroaded into 50$ for beyondmedia.

What i was curious about is if GBPVR can achieve full commercial skip & transcoding capability that BTV had, which is to
1) Record show
2) Scan for commericials and make cut points xml (txt)
3) Transcode to XVID/WMV/DIVX
4) play back transcoded file and still use the cut points from comskip
5) do all of this automatically in the right order of operations.


If this functionality can be achieved then the only thing the commercial products would have over GB would be the spotlight/online features which are pretyt much crap anyway except radio and i think gb does shoutcast or whatever soo..
