new hauupauge remote with 350 sensor
Posted by: reven - 2004-12-14, 01:58 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

is it possible to use the pvr350s sensor for the new hauppauge remote?

why might you ask. well the sensor for my 350 is behind a plate thingy on my case, which has a VFD (so its hidden but accessible) but with the pvr150 it has a ir sender on it aswell, and putting the new sensor inside the case would mean i couldnt use the ir sender. so i have to use the pvr 350 sensor inside the case (and i dont want to put the sensor outside the case, since its ugly and sticks out (well its not that ugly, but you know what i mean)).
anyway i read somewhere that the MVP was able to use the new hauppauge remote, by updating something, i was hoping this was also possible with the 350. so anyone know how?

and sub i get why you were so fussy about the remote buttons. im going to try and make the buttons in my plugins configurable. maybe using a remote.xml in gbpvr root directory or something.

  MVP Hangs at Loading Application
Posted by: fischer98 - 2004-12-14, 01:11 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

Just bought a new setup today, WinTV-PVR-150 and MVP 1000. Downloaded the latest GBPVR and installed it. Seems to work fine on the PC, but after starting the GB MVP service and then plugging in the MVP, it hangs at "Loading Application".

If I start up the MVP with its own software, then turn it off and start the GB-PVR MediaMVP Server, I get the messages "Failed to Locate GUI Server" and "Failed to Locate Streaming Server" alternating back and forth.

Sorry if you've already addressed this, but the forum doesn't have a search feature, and I didn't see it after scanning some of the topics.

  channel-changer extension
Posted by: teris - 2004-12-13, 04:33 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

Hi Sub,

I'm writing a small software for german pay-tv (premiere) users.
Here I have a external box connected to my tv-card.
In my XMLTV I've all stations and can switch the channels with an infrared-sender.

This works fine, BUT:
When a movie is not approved for childreen, you must enter a pin-code. For example: The movie at 14:00 is FSK 16 (you must 16 years old), you need a pin. If the same movie comes at 23:00, you need no pin.

My program should change the channel AND send the pin to active the movie.

In the xmltv-file you can find this:

<rating system="FSK">
<value>16</value>
</rating>

(means 16 years)

Is it possible to use this values like fsk or channel-name from xmtlv as a channel-changer-parameter ?

This would be very nice.

Thanks.

Sebastian

  screensaver
Posted by: teris - 2004-12-13, 03:54 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

Hi,

GBPVR is great. But the media-mvp-Screensaver comes too fast.
When I listen to some mp3-files, the screensaver is there after one minute.
Is it possible to change the time before the screensaver comes ?

Maybe GBPVR could create a visualation like Media-Player and stream this to the MVP with the mp3-sound :-)
With a fast pc, this should be possible.

Bye,
Sebastian

  Some small issues
Posted by: firefox_i - 2004-12-13, 10:48 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi altogether,
yesterday I started to setup my new HTPC with the recent GBPVR.
I´m very happy with it as I had not the expected amount of problems and I managed to have it running yesterday at 8pm.

But some minor questions :

1) Channel switching in LiveTV
I use a PVR350 and the channel switching in LiveTV needs several seconds. Thats no problem and caused by the delay of the PVR during creation of the MPEG stream.
* Can there be displayed something on screen to indicate that the channel is switched ?
* Sometimes I press an arrow key multiple times and then I´m back in the main menu...

2) Skinning
Is it possible to create submenues and if yes, how ?

3) Database stuff - delete of non present channels
I added some channels by hand.
I deleted the recording sources where I added these channels, but in the main channel list (channels tab in the config utility) these channels still are present.
* How can I delete these channels from mdb ?

In teh beginning I had an EPG with a lot of channels that I canno t receive.
These channels are also still present in the main channels list although I deleted the capture sources of these channels.
* How can I delete these channels from mdb ?

* Can some kind of garbage collection be made in the mdb ?

4) EPG clear
Although if I press the "Empty EPG" Button in the Capture Source Setup the EPG is still present.....

* How can I clear it ?

5) Renaming of manually added channels or Capture Source names
If I add a Capture Source or a channel I cannot change the name of it afterwards.
* Where is my mistake ?

Thanks for an hints or help.

Regards
Sven

Is there anyway to change the bitrate settings???
Posted by: cuxe_ivan - 2004-12-13, 09:16 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi there, I've been playing with this program for a good while now and I never seem to get the desired bitrate/file size.

When I manually record with GoCap (an app which works with the PX-M402U).... and I set the bitrate to 2500, I always get a bitrate of about 2700 which is acceptable..., but when I use gbpvr and use the low quality profile at 2000kbs ... for some reason I get random bitrates ... 3300+, 4500+ and so on... if it was set at 3000 everytime it wouldn't be a problem, but since I want 2000kbs as the target bitrate... random results is kind of an issue.

I always first change the settings under edit on capture sources, and then set the low quality at 2000kbs.., and when I schedule the recording I also set it to LOW not Medium quality...

I checked the log files and none of them show a bitrate report...

Any Ideas?

I also wanted to know,... what is your file size for 30 and 60 min using the low quality profile....

High CPU usage after enabling new Main Menu Panels
Posted by: reefboy - 2004-12-13, 06:59 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

So I enabled the new panels on the main menu for the clock and current and upcoming recordings. Loved it! Then started noticing cyclic usage of the CPU to 99% every 5-10 seconds. Realized it started after enabling the new panels. So I disabled the panels and the CPU usage went back to normal.

If I enable it again will the quick repeated pegging of the CPU usage deteriorate my recording quality or even playback? Is there a way to get the panels going again w/o the high CPU usage as I really like the new feature?

  OnScreen Keyboard
Posted by: reven - 2004-12-13, 04:19 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (5)

i was wondering what would be the best way to do a onscreen keyboard, and i came to this conclusion. implement it the same way you use a dialogbox. it returns a result, the main program/plugin has no control and it just waits for the dialogbox to finish. by doing it this way the onscreen keyboard would easily be used over and over again, and only require a few lines of code to be implemented (perhaps even one). so something like
<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">string text = onscreenkeyboard.showdialog()[/QUOTE]
which returns the entered text. null if cancel was clicked or something. now my question, is this possible using gbpvr's api ?

and bigger question, anyone else what to write it ? Tongue

also this onscreen keyboard could be skinned in one place and used frequently.

thoughts, comments, see a major fault in my reasoning?
