  Make the best VCD/SVCD possible
Posted by: mcr - 2004-10-24, 03:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi,

Can anyboby help me. I would like to be able to burn a cd or dvd with shows recorded with gbpvr. The shows will be seen on a standard DVD-player.

I don't know much about it - but i think i need to burn a vcd (or svcd?) with my Nero-software. I not sure what resolution i should use. I have a haugpauge 250 - and it can record in mpeg2 - but i think vcd is mpeg1.

Can anyboby help me getting the best recording on a standard dvd-player (that can play vcd or svcd). If it could end op on a DVD it would be easier to fit a large movie on one media - but if a cd is needed that fine.

Is there any programs around that can turn a mpg2 into a vcd?

Thanks

  A few questions...
Posted by: thebartman - 2004-10-24, 03:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi all,

i found GB-PVR on thursday and played around with it
the whole weekend. GREAT!!! I am really exalted about
this piece of software i searched for.
But there are some things i found and wondered about.
Maybe someone can help (yes, i searched the forum, but i
can´t find solutions ;-) ):
- The unit "mhz" in the FM radio-plugin should be "MHz". 10^-3
cycles per second is too little ;-))
- Things concerning EPG, channel settings and channel
order are not very easy to see through for newbies.
- I don´t want all these channel logos inside the channel-logo
directory (i want to use my own), but if i delete these
files, they are restored at the next start of GB-PVR. So if i
have e.g. a CNN.png i created and want to use, the restored
CNN.jpg is used instead. Maybe a separate file with custom
 channel/logo-assignment is useful...
- The weather-plugin is really great, but i can´t get the texts
 inside translated (to german)...
- It will be very helpful to have not only the fahrenheit
translated to degrees celsius, but also the mph to km/h...
- What is "bleb-channels.xml" for?

So far...looking forward to your answers...

Best regards, Thorsten

  MVP Questions
Posted by: jtokach - 2004-10-24, 02:51 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (10)

Hi there,

Just came back to GBPVR and I must say it's really come a long way. Great work!

3 Questions:

1. While using the MVP, I can pause live tv, but cannot FF or REW, is this by design?

2. My video is noticably cropped on the MVP, much more so that with the standard MVP software. I played with some of the settings in the .XML file and the menuing system looks good now, but the video is definitely cropped on all sides. I remember the MVP software came out with a fix for this and I assume that would apply here as well; but I don't think it is. Suggestions?

3. Is there any documentation anywhere on the BB regarding what buttons do what on the remote for MVP and the keystrokes for the PC interface?

  New Media PC
Posted by: bishop - 2004-10-24, 02:38 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I plan to build a small media PC to sit next to my TV and Surround reciever. I plan to connect the PC to the TV using the PVR350 and it's video out. I read a tread where sub confirmed that GB-PVR will play it's means onto the TV screen through this card. Is this an overlay over the broadcasted picture or will it look the same as a monitor. I assume I won't be able to use the TV like a monitor i.e. no desktop? just GB-PVR.

Second question. I plan to network this PC to my main pC to share it's broadband connection. Any plans for a internet feature on GB-PVR for those that only plan to connect to a TV screen?

Thanks

  A question about EPG update
Posted by: DGK - 2004-10-24, 01:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I just bought a pvr350 and installed gb pvr and so far I love it. Very stable and no problems of any kind.

I do have a few questions about EPG update though. In reading through the forums I have read comments about having to empty the EPG before updating. Is this correct even for the newest version?

Also, does the 'Automatic EPG update" do this automatically- empty the old one and install the new one?

Computer goes off when watching a recording
Posted by: MaBo - 2004-10-24, 12:12 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi,

Since the previous version, my computer goes into hibernation while watching a recorded show. When waking the computer, the wake.cmd script runs to restart the pvr350. However, it does not stop gbpvr. The "video is playing back.." screen is shown on the monitor, but the tv-screen remains black. The wake.cmd script returns an error that the pvr350 could not be restarted. Only option then is to restart the pc.

But, if the pc would not go into hibernation all would be perfect.

BTW, the pc does not sleep while watching a dvd, or while playing music. So, I suppose the computer settings are OK.

Greetz,
MaBo

  Recording/Video Settings
Posted by: pancapangrawit - 2004-10-24, 09:58 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

Hi, I'd like to be able to define more features of the recorded video (CBR/VBR, GOP, Output Stream) ideally all setting accessible through the WinTVCap profiles. A Hauppauge-centric wish, I guess?

In LiveTV it would be nice to be able to adjust brightness, contrast, colour... (but the first one has a much higher priority for me)

Best

  GB-PVR with Hauppauge PVR-350 problems!
Posted by: bond - 2004-10-24, 08:55 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

I've downloaded GB-PVR , this great software and I'm also a happy owner of a Hauppauge PVR-350.
It seems that is something wrong with this software:

1)I get only black and white picture on my TV , although GB-PVR's menous are in full color.
2)FM Radio doesn't work at all.
3)I get a 2cm black line on the bottom of my TV and there is no way to adjust it.
4)In the configuration utility of GB-PVR the Settings button of Hauppage PVR-350 is disabled.

Does anyone know anything about it?

(I'm running the latest Hauppauge drivers & the latest GB-PVR version.)

Thanks anyway...

  GBPVR wont start
Posted by: sirius24 - 2004-10-24, 01:49 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

When the recording services starts up, the status says the tuner #1 is sleeping.

The wintv 2000 works fine.

Can anyone help?

Thanks
