USB-UIRT are all out of UK stock

Can anyone suggest another IR Blaster that works with GB-PVR?

Does the Windows Media Center Remote IR Blaster work?

I have a system up and running well with a new PVR250mce card which uses the "encoder 16" chipset.  I'm thinking of adding a 2nd tuner.  I can get an older pvr250 card with the "encoder 15" chipset relatively cheap.  Can GBPVR support two PVR250 tuners with different chipsets?  (I notice that Beyond TV cannot.)  If so, are there any issues I need to be aware of?  Thanks.

I can view the GBPVR screen on the television, hear music, see pictures and playback video, even see the TV Scheduler, but can't view live TV. When I try, the screen says it failed to communicated with the GB-PVR Recording Service and to reboot, if that doesn't work, send an e-mail (which I haven't yet).

Jphone (Oct 5 '04) had the same problem but the posts don't say how it was fixed. I did follow other posts saying to install the latest/greatest Hauppauge drivers (which I downloaded/installed), plus to turn off Hauppauge programs.

When I run the Tuning Assistant, I just get black screens.

I'm using Hauppauge 250, MediaMVP.

p.s. How does one show a song album cover on the thumbnails as shown in the sample screens?

Sub, awhile ago I requested having a window of variance for timeslot recordings, as I thought midnight was causing me grief. Thanks for implementing that.

I've been running into intermittent problems with my recurring recordings, always.  I've been trying for a long time to find a pattern to the problem, but I haven't seen one.  Here's the scenerio:

Wife wants "The Young and the Restless" recorded..  
Only time it's ever on is 11:00am - 12:00am M-F

I want "The Daily Show" recorded..
Its on at 6pm, 10pm, and 1am (all repeats), 30 min.

At various times, either of the shows' season recordings works.  Other times it won't.  For example, right now I have the Daily Show set to Timeslot Season Record at 10pm, with a 90 minute variance in the XML file.  Its working, all 10pm showings are red into the future.

The Young and the Restless was working for the past few weeks.  Then my wife noticed it hadn't gotten recorded one day.  In the TV Guide, none of the showings were red, but the entry still showed up in the Recurring recordings menu.  I've tried deleting the scheduled recording, going to the TV Guide and choosing "Record Season, all showings".  The computer thinks for a second, goes back to TV Guide but the showing hasn't turned red.

I've had the same symptoms at times trying to get the Daily Show to work.  Usually I can just do a one-time recording, and that will work.

I just wanted you to be aware of an issue I've been having since I've been using your program (3 versions now, I think).  I've been getting by, and if there are nobody else experiencing these issues, then maybe I'll wait until my next OS reinstall, but there really shouldn't be anything unordinary about my setup.

If there are any logs I can send you let me know.

i posted this in the developers forum but i just found out that it is a gbpvr bug and not the moviedb plugin. i have a dvd in my dvd drive, and went to play an iso, the iso was mounted ok but gbpvr played the dvd in my dvd drive.

Im unsure where the problem lies.
I use Birtles Radio Times grabber which writes an XML file, i have checked this and its correct.

I have two recording sources: fixed channel, external tuner for my Sky (satellite TV) and Internal tuner for terrestrial TV.

Anyone have any ideas what could cause the inconsistencies... i dont know where to start looking?

First off, like so many people, I would like to thank sub for making such a great program available free of charge, and the plugin developers for adding to the functionality.

On with the question... I am aware that Digial Satellite or Terrestrial capture cards are not currently supported by GBPVR, but something about the Nexus-S makes me think that it might be possible to use this card. Admittedly, what I know about TV capture cards is pretty limited, but it seems logical . The Nexus-S contains a hardware MPEG encoder, so it would seem feasible that the MPEG stream is the same as that produced by the PVR 350. With this is mind, am I correct in thinking that what is stopping support from the Nexus is not the fact that it's a satellite broadcast, but that GBPVR does not know how to "control" this card, so to speak?

Incidentally, I have read the post on DVB TV, but thought that this deserved a new topic.

Any help you guys can give will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

It's a mino problem, but still annoying.
When I view a recording and FF (Short skip is not checked) and the press play again the recording doesn't start where i stopped with FF but a 2 or 3 minutes earlier, so I still have to watch some minutes of useless footage.
I know it's a minor prob. but still annoying.

Is there a way to load GB-PVR on a second computer, one that does not have a capture card, and bypass most of the config/setup steps (those that relate to the program guide, teh capture source, etc), then configure this second computer to point to the recording location of the 'main computer' (the one where GB-PVR is already loaded, and does all the capturing, etc)?

My goal is this ... I have configured GB-PVR to capture Closed Captions (with your excellent help!.  And to play back those CC's.  But my computer is down in my 'office', while my TV is in the living room ... and that's where I want to watch the actual recordings.  

I bought the MVP device for this very purpose, but as discussed in other posts, the MVP does not support CCs.  My partner is deaf so I have to get this working with CCs ... so I want to load GB-PVR on a high-end laptop I have, which has a TV-OUT, and which is network-connected to my 'main' computer and which can 'see' the drives on the main computer.  In theory, I should be able to run GB-PVR on the laptop, displayed on the TV, reading recorded shows from the main computer ... but I'm suspecting that GB-PVR will throw a fit during install/config if it doesn't find a source, and/or doesn't have a 'guide'.  

This will be so cool if it will work!

A variation on this would be to copy the recorded files to a removable drive, and then plug the removable drive into the laptop, and play them on my tv. No difference other than reading from a removable USB drive rather than a network drive.

I just downloaded and installed GB-PVR, and I have to say it's a nice program, with lots of features.   But the initial 'user experience' was both good and bad.  I muddled through the issues, and now I know how to use it, but I thought I'd note down some observations while the experiences are still 'fresh' - you only get one chance to be a 'new user'!

I'm a technical guy, running IT and customer support for a software company, so I'm both technical and user-oriented.

Obviously, the screens are designed to be 'simple', and the 'TV interface' model is being used, rather than a typical windows application interface - is this because people are expected to use this on an actual TV?  I assume so.  

Anyway, I found the menus confusing.  On some screens, I am provided with navigation, but on others, I'm not.  For example, on the 'Recordings' screen, there is a 'main menu' button that takes me back to main menu, but on the 'TV Guide' screen, there is no navigation.  It took me a while to realize that 'escape' would take me back to main menu (hard to admit to, but true!!!.

On the 'Search Guide' screen, a single-click on the letters causes it to be highlighted, but no action occurs. Again, it toom me a while to realize I had to double-click on the letter.  And how to scroll through the letters ...? I tried hitting the 'S' key to get to the letter 'S', but no dice.  There are no arrows to click on to scroll the list; I finally realized that page down and down-arrow keys worked.   Once you know, it's easy ... just letting you know that first time in I was puzzled by this!

Back to the 'Recordngs' screen ... if I select 'manual rec', the 'channel' item is selected, with left/right arrow icons to the right.  I clicked away on those arrows trying to change the channel for some time, until I realized I had to use the left/right keyboard keys.  I wanted to move the selection to another entry (eg, start time) and clicked on the entry ... no luck.  Down arrow worked, of course.  

So by now, of course, I'm clued in that this is much more like a 'TV' interface, designed to be operated by a remote with limited buttons (and no mouse!.  Once I got this, it was plain sailing, but ... this is a windows app, and I started out expecting a 'windows app-like' experience.  

I also had my first BSOD experience in over a year with this program, somewhere along the way - it was about 2am, and I was bleary eyed, so can't say exactly what caused it - I 'think' I was trying to get it to record without having downloaded the full EPG, not sure.  

I was hesitant to install '.net framework' as I've never had to install it before (and I download/install a LOT of software!, and at work we have found clashes between .net and Oracle Application Server components .... but I installed it anyway and no problems so far!  

I followed instructions in another thread here and got Closed Captions to both record and play back - and THAT was my reason for downloading GB-PVR in the first place.  This alone makes the experience worthwhile!

Given the user-interface is 'TV-oriented', and assuming the purpose is for people to build this app into a standalone PVR, is there a recommended display card for TV-out? I've read somewhere that the Matrox is the best.

Providing these comments in the interest of sharing my first-time experience, not to whine.
