Adjusting the volume of recorded shows
Posted by: dirtboy - 2004-10-09, 09:38 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (25)

I have lots of TV shows I want o burn to DVD and I find that the volume on them is about half of normal. Regular TV and the menu on my DVD is twice as loud as the mpeg2 files I have burned. Any adjustment I can do to start recording louder? Anybody know of a good tool to adjust the volume on my mpeg2 files I already have?

  Time Delay Video Camera
Posted by: brianandtj - 2004-10-09, 08:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I am looking to be able to connect a video camera to a PC, using a firewire connection (or video), and have the PC show the video stream with a minute delay. If not a video camera then a USB web cam. Is GB-PVR capable of accumplishing this? If so how? If not any suggestions?

  Various Wish Items
Posted by: shfaxx - 2004-10-09, 08:39 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (6)

Ok so let me start out by stating I'm an old shool Tivo user. I've opted for GB-PVR for as my backup recorder but who knows someday it may replace it [Image: smile.gif] Here are some items I would love to see added / changed. I've been reading the forums and don't recall seeing these items, but I'm sorry if they are duplicates.

- Within the Search Guide - Allow more letters of a show to be selected or use Channel Up / Down to scroll a page at a time. I wanted to record Survivor and had to hit down 100 times just to find it in there. (I never know what channel or times things are on.. [Image: sad.gif] )

- Within The Search Guide - If you select to record a show that is already going to be recorded by a previous Season Recording show that at the bottom, instead of allowing you to try and record it.

- Live TV - Enable the record button on the remote so it records the show you are currently watching from that point forward.

- Live TV - Add button on the remote to allow you to jump to LiveTV no matter where you are.

- Live TV - While in MiniGuide allow user to look ahead in time.

- TV Guide - Enable Channel Up / Channel Down as Page Up and Page Down.

- ALL Screens - Allow Up arrow to go to the last selection. Some screens act tihs way, other don't.

Live TV - Recording / Watching
Posted by: shfaxx - 2004-10-09, 08:25 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I'm looking for a way to record something that is current ON LiveTV. The record buton doesn't seem to do anything while I'm watcihng the show (I'll add that to the wishlist) and if I go into "Search Guide" and do a quick record on that show, the show never records. It appears on the Recordings screen as pending but never records. I now have two recordings I tried to record this way and now I that I can't delete them either. The shows are scheduled to record in the past and if I select Cancel, it doesn't delete the schedule.
thanks.

  Net Radio not working
Posted by: mcragoe - 2004-10-09, 08:06 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

When I click on a station, it does not start to play. It does flash the station info and then goes away. What is used on the PC to play the Net Radio, maybe I have a problem with that.

Thanks,
Mike

  Closed Captions
Posted by: Steerpike - 2004-10-09, 07:05 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (10)

I own the WinTV PVR250 and the Media MVP device.

Using registry hacks from Amonitllado's website, I'm able to capture Closed Captions in my recordings made natively with the WinTV2k capture, and with the 'WinTVCap' software.

But the Media MVP software does not playback the Closed Captions. Getting Closed Captions to work is crucial for the 'overall success' of this setup - my partner is deaf.

Through searching over at shspvr forum, I came across GB-PVR, both the capture app and the MVP replacement app. I searched this forum for 'Closed Caption' but got no hits. But over at shspvr, I saw a release note for GB-PVR MVP that suggests that CC's are supported in some way.

So .... my question is, if I cut over to GB-PVR to record, and to GB-PVR's MVP replacement for the MVP device, will I be able to view CC's from either my captured material?

Thanks! This looks like a great product!

  DVD playback digital audio 5.1
Posted by: cwills - 2004-10-09, 05:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I'm using a Hauppauge 350, in software mode nview TV output as a secondary display. The 350's hardware output just doesn't work as advertised, and I don't think Hauppauge cares. Anyway, if I play a DVD, I get video and audio, but the audio is VERY muted, and is not running in 5.1, only 2ch stereo. I've tried the digital coax & fiber optic on my mobo and get nothing from either. If I play a DVD via Intervideo WinDVD 6 Platinum, I can get 5.1 either through analog 5.1 output(currently using), or either fiber optic or coax. I'm running the sound into my stereo with analog multi-channel inputs and fiber optic. My typical volume setting is 20-30, with the GBPVR DVD playing, I have to crank it to almost 50, and it's still only 2ch. Am I missing something?

Thanks

EPF Update process - Zap2it???? consuming resource
Posted by: DrGno - 2004-10-09, 05:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

I'm doing my first install of GB-PVR. I entered my config info, exited and then restarted config to update my EPG. The programme listing were retrieved and since then config.exe has been on a rampage. So far it has been running for 1 hour and has racked up 57 min of CPU time and 69M of memory and growing.

Am I impatient or is there a problem???

thanks

Recorded TV order and menu wrap
Posted by: stu8080 - 2004-10-09, 12:42 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

I wondered if the order could be reversed in the recordings menu, (originally in support) and it was mentoned that just as simple and probably more helpful would be to have the menus wrap, ie when at the bottom of a menu the next click down takes you back to the top just like the main menu does.

Could this be made standard across all the menus?

  foreign language tv guide
Posted by: ren - 2004-10-09, 09:36 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi,

I noticed that recordings from my tv guide never succeed (although manaul recordings do work). I think it may have to do with program names in my language: hebrew. Unfortunately I can't find any source of programme names in English.

When the recording should start, the folder with the correct hebrew name is created but no file is created and although the item is 'recording', no video is saved.

I manually changed one program to english and it recorded just fine. Can anyone think of reason for this?

Thanks
ren
