I'm a new comer here but, I'm very excited about this app.. I will surely have more comments down the road.
This is minor, but you can throw it on the bug list (At least I think it is a bug).
When you go into "Search Guide" if you DON'T hit "OK" to bring up the listings for that letter but hit the right arrow instead, to get into the middle window, you will get an error "Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
I'm new to GB PVR so pardon me if I am recycling an old question. (did a quick search but found nothing).
Anyway, I updated EPG data (from my home brew XMLTV). The TV Guide shows just fine but the 'highlighted' event sometimes goes crazy (i.e. no event is green; the bottom shows details of event from the correct channel but from time not even in range onscreen; right/left buttons shifts whole table sideways but its hard to shake it to highlight event correctly again).
Yesterday me and my wife were watching a recording. But in the middle both of us had to make a few phonecalls. During that time the movie was paused. This caused the PC to go into hibernation. After wakeing up the wake.cmd script was run. However, GBPVR or the recordingservice could not be stopped apparantly. The PVR350 was not restarted.
Maybe GBPVR is stopped when the PC wakes from hibernation, but the movie window isn't?
Could you allow us to change the name of a thread that we have created after it is created. This would be quite useful as, for example, I have just released a new version of my scan theme, but for the sake of tidyness want to keep it all in the same thread. For people who don't bother to read every new post they wouldn't know that a new versions out, but rather think that someone else has probably commented on it. If I could change the thread title to 'scan theme (07/10/2004)' then it would be easy for anyone casually browsing the forums to see that there is a new version out...
OK, first off, great product you produced there Sub. I really admire it. I tried ALL (or nearly) other options out there:
SageTV: Nice, but I live in Belgium where you can't use regular xmltv. You have to use a somewhat modified version of it that produces the required .xml file. Sage has an import plugin for such files, but it failed to update correctly. I always had to rename and reorder all channels... Also, Sage has a unintuitive UI
BeyondTV: Only TV, but for the rest it looked OK
GOT all media: Didn't get it to work correctly with my PVR350, but that could be my fault. I didn't try too hard...
myHTPC: development stopped
Showshifter: nice, but not better than GBPVR and paying.
Myth: My PVR350 isn't supported yet (newest LG tuner), neither is my compro gold (although that one worked with TVTime)
Some others...
But GBPVR is the first that get's it all right: PVR350 TV-out support, great XMLTV import feature, nice UI (although my GF says she can't read the onscreen text very well, maybe a larger text skin might solve this?), extensive functionality, ...
Now my question: We are moving to a new appartment in a few weeks. What I would like to do there is this:
*Imagine 3 rooms. One bedroom, one study and one living room.
*The study contains the gbpvr server with two PVR350 cards (have to buy one more, but that's no problem.
*The bedroom contains a 16:9 projector with scart input
*The living room contains a 4:3 tv with SCART input
Can I do the following:
*Connect both the projector and the tv with the GBPVR server via a hauppauge media mvp with a WirelessG ethernet bridge?
*Watch a different channel on each screen (because of the dual tuners)?
*Do all selections (what to record, what pictures to watch etc.) with the mediaMVP remote?
* Watch e.g. different pictures, or different recorded movies on each screen?
*Watch a DVD in the servers DVD drive on the projector via the MVP, with 5.1 sound provided by digital cable coming out of the audigy card in the server (so screen via MVP, 5.1 sound via a long audio cable between bedroom and study)
I know these are a lot of questions, but I just get excited about the possibilities...
I can't seem to get SBE to work. I just get a black screen. Sub says it's likely a codec issue...some work with SBE & some don't. I'm using the InterVideo codes that (I assume) came with WinDVD4. I don't know that I have any others to try. So, what's a good one and where can I get it (preferably a freebie)? What are y'all using that works well? Any advice will be appreciated...
Here is a suggestion that would be nice to have but, not need to have. When in the EPG, entering a channel number would take you to that channel and highlight it. You could stay on the same hour position and just move to the new number in that hour.
Example:
If you are looking at 7:00 PM channel 100, you could enter 245 and the EPG would jump to channel 245 and highlight the 7:00PM show.
I think this would help speed up EPG show selection.
Get the following error message when I select to play a ripped dvd.
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
The dvd was ripped in full file mode using dvd ripper and saved under the following file format c:dvd/dvdname/VIDEO_TS.
I am trying to playback through an xcard, I can view the menu system fine on external tv and monitor so I know the xcard is working fine any ideas?
I had to reload the GBPVR, but now the TV Guide won't pickup the channel logos.I made a copy of all the logos before reinstalling and copied them back into the media Dir.
