Im not sure, but do you know if on windows, each thread can be assigned to multiple processors? Or do you have to specially design an app to use SMP (does GB-PVR do this?). Debating putting it on an SMP server. May help when serving several MediaMVP's at the same time?

Do you guys think the pvr 350 is worth the extra money over the pvr 250? What does the 350 get you the 250 doesnt?

  audio related suggestions
Posted by: phuturetech - 2004-09-19, 12:40 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Would it be possible to have a way to adjust the recording volume? I know this can be done for WinTV by making some registry changes.

Also - the option to record audio only from Live TV. I get way better radio reception from satellite than from FM, but recording it as a TV signal means a very large file even at the lowest video setting (1500K).

Cheers

Scott

  tv on desktop
Posted by: falvious - 2004-09-19, 11:04 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hi, jsut got latest version of GB-PVR all up and running fine, almost.

I have a pvr 350 card and have it working fine using tv out on that card. However i am wanting to use emulators as well for a complete home entertainment system. And am looking at how good the quality is by using the tv out on geforce card instead. My problem is that when i change it to software decoder to show on the desktop instead of using the tv out on the 350 card, i get no tv screen up, just a black screen. Is there a problem with using software to show on the desktop and having a 350 card installed.

thanks

falvious

  suggestions
Posted by: falvious - 2004-09-19, 11:00 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

Been trying out different products to see what is best for myself (uk) meedio, beyond tv, sage tv , mythtv and eventually think ive settled on GB-PVr which seems to do all that i want with the exception of lack of mame support for the moment, but there are some niggles i would like to see sorted or improvements.

ability to reshuffle the order of the program list, I live in scotland so use bbc1 scotland, but this appears below all the other channels instead of first in the list, which i would prefer it to be. So the ability to move channels into different positions.

eye candy : nicely animated epg menu, lscrolls up and down smoothly when you browse up or down the channel list.

Icons on main screen representing what the menu item is as in meedio.

Option to show live tv on the main screen in a small window.

option to rename menu items.

more themes available, or an easy way to create them.

ability to show tv on pc screen as well as on the tv using tv out on pvr 350 card.

Emulator support, such as mame, spectrum, cbm 64 etc.

these are just my suggestions for improving the app.

many thanks for making such a wonderful product that works for me.

look for a donation coming soon ....

  LiveTV in a Window
Posted by: Ziflin - 2004-09-19, 04:23 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

Sub, this has been mentioned a few times, but I was wondering if this was possible? It's a very nice feature on the local cable's DVR (keeps me from going insane while the wife tries to find something she wants to watch [Image: smile.gif].

I'm guessing maybe the PVR350 can't deal with scaling the picture, but for those with software playback it'd be really nice to have a skin element for 'LiveTV' that would have pos/size values.

  Multihomed server
Posted by: Lucas_24 - 2004-09-19, 12:22 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Has anyone set GBPVR up on a multihomed machine? I searched the forums but could not find anything. I'm currently running Win 2000 pro. This is connected to a wireless router which takes care of DHCP for me. Here's what I'd like to do:

Add a NIC to my GBPVR server, connect it to a hub and have the MVP's cponnected to the hub as well. The old NIC would still be used for internet access going through my router, as well as to connect to other PC's on my network. I'd just like to seperate the video stream traffic from the rest of my network. So the router would still be doing DHCP for my LAN NIC, but I'd have to figure out some way of doing DHCP for the MVP's. Has anyone done this or see a problem with doing it, or have any suggestions I guess?

Thanks
