hi i was just wondering some info on some hardware and stuff, just trying to sort out which capture card is for me, can you use the pvr-350 mpeg2 decoder output to output the entire screen, or does it just output mpeg2 files? i have a matrox g200 which could do both, but whenever you played a capture file it would spit it out to the tv even if tv output was off.

also can you change the capture settings to different file formats? what is the standard capture format? is it mpeg2 or raw avi?

im mostly likely going to get the pvr-250 or pvr-350, i also live in nz, and theyre really expensive here so just want to make sure i get the right one.

oh also is there you or are you going to implement a widescreen version? or can that be handled by windows or something? im making a pvr that just hooked straight up to a tv which is widescreen

also just want to say i love the project, a lot easier than all the linux ones, mythtv and freevo those were a nightmare to get working, gave up in the end

  Run as a service

It would be great if it's possible to rund GBPVR as a service because the window on the desktop is really annoying if you want to use the computer for other purposes at the same time as someone else is using GBPVR on the X-card output.

When I first created a lineup in zap2it, eveything worked fine, but I did not list all my channels since I was still "experimenting".
Now all is working fine, I went to my zap2it account, and checked (enabled) all my other channel. Did a EPG update from GBPVR config, and all seems OK.
BUT, when I go the TV Guide in GBPVR, I see all my channels listed, but only the old channels had programming and shows listed with them, the other 'new channels' I added only show their channel titles with no programming present (the row is just all BLANK in GBPVR).

I fixed this by going back to zap2it account, DELETED my old lineup, then created a new lineup where I added all my channel, updated my GBPVR config, and now eveything is all right..

It would be convenient to be able to update my zap2it lineup with any new channels I am interested in (or just purchased) without the need to delete the whole lineup, and re-create and select all channels again.


ANOTHER minor thing, when I hit Empty GBPVR (ver 214), it displays a message of warning, but after I hit OK, nothing happens. i.e. I still see all the channels listed in the Listbox.
Would be nice to provide visual update indicating those channels are truely deleted (even if you re-start config, it still shows the channels you emptied).

Not trying to be critical, but trying to make a very good and nice software even better [Image: smile.gif]

  Do Closed Captions work?

Do closed captions work? I have a PVR-350 and a EPIA M10000. I'm using the s-video output on the epia motherboard. I saw there was an option for close captions in the config dialog so I checked it, but it didn't work. I tried the InterVideo and Cyberlink software mpeg codecs and each of three overlay choices VMR9, VMR7, and overlay manager. I tried each of those setting with the three close captions settings on my Sony TV: XDS, CCT, & TXT.

  Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe NTSC

I have got the Pinnacle working fine for recording video using the Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe (PAL) by changing all PAL entries to NTSC. However it records video fine but there is no audio. Also during Live TV there is no audio either. Here is my debug info. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

  Prompt before config goes into affect

This one could be chalked up to user error, but may have been prevented. Tonight while one of my gbpvr machines was recording I changed the config to include another video folder (so I could view shows recorded on the other gbpvr box). This caused gbpvr to interrupt the current recording. When the service came back up it started recording the show again, but over the previous file. My wish is for a prompt to tell me that a recording is taking place and asking if I really want to enable that config or for gbpvr to see that a file is already present with a given name and append a _copy (or something) to the filename.

First, this program was so easy to setup and works wonderfully!

I do however have a few relatively small issues I'd like to iron out. I just recently bought a PVR-350 and installed it in a Windows 2000 machine.

It seems that there are a few things not working on my remote that do work in the MyTV2000 suit that it comes with, such as muting.

I've read the threads pertaining to external volume control by binding the FUNC button to the Volume.exe I downloaded from that website (can't remember off the top of my head what the url was). Anyway, I noticed that the keyboard command to mute was "m", but even that doesn't work. Is it something else?

Some of that may not be right. Perhaps there is a listing of what the remote binds are and also a listing of keyboard commands for GB-PVR so I can double check my irremote.ini against those.

Other than that, the program was super easy to setup and get running fully functional. That reminds me, I did have a problem with the TheatreListing plugin. The GetTheaterListings.exe generates the following error:

Is there anyone out there who succesfully uses a Dutch EPG (I don't know if I got to have a special one for my cable provider which is UPC in Amsterdam).
I'am a complete newbie on XML.
I did read the thread on teletext converting but since Wintv nor VTplus work properly on my Hauppauge 250 I've given up on Hauppauges native appz, so no teletext on my HTPC.
