  Port number configuration
Posted by: pham - 2004-09-16, 03:41 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Is it correct that the port number can only be changed via editing the config.xml file? My port number is always grayed out in the config utility.

Can't Burn the Video onto CD
Posted by: Peetem - 2004-09-16, 02:55 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I'm up and running and LOVE GBPVR. However, I'm having a problem that I cannot, again (as usual), tackle.

I made a recording which is about 5.9 Gig. I would like to burn it and make either a VCD or convert it to make a DVD (I'll compress it more to lower the file size). It plays just fine on my computer using either GBPVR or Windows media player. But, no other program will let me burn or use it. I get the error message of something like "Cannot be Opened or Supported".

I'm thinking it has to do with the MPG format. Sooooo....I guess I need to know what Codec was used to record or what format the file is in?.....is it MPG2, MPG4? Heck, I'm not sure where to start. ANy help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Peetem

Hi,

Can someone please point me in the right direction for downloading (and using) the theatre listings for a given U.S. Zip code?
Thanks!

Xbox Media Center as a client?
Posted by: AirJunky - 2004-09-15, 11:40 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (15)

Anyone ever tried to use an Xbox Media Center as a GB-PVR client?

http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/

I have SageTV running on a PC now & have moved to a new house. In the new place, the PC & big screen TV are not in the same room like they used to be. I've been thinking I was going to buy a MediaMVP & convert to GB-PVR but have read that it's now possible to use the Xbox as a client instead. I'd convert to GB-PVR & have to get the Xbox modded but it's like 3 yrs old anyway & this way would eliminate having to wire a new box in my entertainment center.

  XVID capture + Ad Detection
Posted by: reven - 2004-09-15, 11:36 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

I know these two are long shots, capturing straight to xvid, and ad detection, but according to mythtv it is able to do it, so it might be possible with gb-pvr. have no idea how they detect ads, might be with digital tv or something, who knows.

also would love a simple editing solution to remove adds etc from files.

not sure if this one is implemented (still havent got my capture card yet) but can you watch the begining of a recording whilst it is still being recorded?

Also widescreen support for menus and all, oh maybe hidef output (1080i)

i know its asking a lot, but thats why they call it a wishlist right? [Image: smile.gif]

  won't record season Tough Crowd
Posted by: mikelu - 2004-09-15, 11:13 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

In 2.14, I can't schedule to "Record Season in this Timeslot" of Tough Crowd, which comes on at 11:30PM and 1:30AM. It lets me go through the dialog and click Record, but then the square in the grid doesn't turn red.
The Daily Show works okay, and comes on at 11:00PM and 1:00AM.
Quick Record succeeded in turning the grid red.

  New Theme Available

Hi,

I've adapted the Pandora's box theme (Volcano Variant) from a Meedio theme.

Meedio Themes - Pandora's Box

I've spoken to the Author, and he has kindly agreed to let me make it availble to you. Thanks DFY !!

Pandora's Box

Language File

I use GBPVR as a pure PVR, so the theme only covers TV guide and searching, recordings and live TV. If anyone likes it, they should find it easy to extend it to the other functions and plugins.

The language file is needed as I used it too change the text on some of the buttons so I could change thier size without truncating.

Here's a screen shot.

Hope you like.

  web config using port 80
Posted by: mbeechwood - 2004-09-15, 05:36 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Have succesfully got web app running using default port no of 7674 (looks brilliant BTW) however work blocks outgoing on this port so i am trying to set up on port 80.

After editing gbpvr\config.xml to use port 80 and restarting i couldnt connect.

Not sure if i need to be using IIS, so also have created a virt directory in IIS pointing at web folder in gbpvr, but i still cant connect.

I have a feeling there is something else i need to change because after doing this i can still connect on port 7674.

any ideas on what else needs changing

thanks

set up for hauppauge pvr2 usb
Posted by: sweetthdevil - 2004-09-15, 02:39 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

So here it goes, i jsut bought the pvr2 usb, i've got the digital cable by NTL, and my question is how i can plugg to things, on the back of the digital box there is the scarf plugg for the vcr, and one for the Tv, there is the antena plugg where it's says tv under.

Or can i plugg in straight to the wall socket, (i bought the cable, one side the antena for the back of the tv card, and one side screw for the digital cable wall socket).

Because i try all, and i get some chanel, if i'm straight on the wall, but few, and nothing like eurosprot, TMF, SKYONE, ...
anyway the more interesting chanel...

Can by any chance use my tv card like to wiew this kind of channel, or i need to use the digital box to send me the channel trought my laptop.

Just for the help, 've got a laptop @ 2'6ghz 522 ddr ram xp sp1 and a geforce 4 fx go 5300..

thanks for your help... [Image: tounge.gif]

  MVP Guide issue
Posted by: Lucas_24 - 2004-09-15, 02:21 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

Sub,

I emailed you the other day about my system not recording. I wiped everything oput and started over and it's been working great for about 4 days now, thanks for the help. Now my wishlist.

1) You can scroll a page at a time on the PC, but with the MVP you can't. Really miss this option. I was wondering if the yellow and red buttons could be assigned to page up/down in the guide? I read a thresd that the only reason the MVP did not have this functionality was because of a lack of buttons on the remote. I really miss this and my wife won't use my new toy until she can scroll a page at a time.

2) Not as important, I can renumber the channels, but it would be nice to have an option in the configuration to list channels in ascending or descending order. No biggy though, I'm just used to seeing them the other way around. I like the higher channels above.

3) This is a little more demanding since a lot of users are already used to the way the app works. On my satellite PVR, when I'm in the guide, if I hit enter on a program in progress, it automatically takes me to live TV. If I hit enter on an episode that hasn't started yet, I then get the prompt to record. If I want to record an episode in progress, I hit the record button, which brings up the recording options. I enjoy this behavior since I watch a lot of live TV, and this saves me a lot of remote activity when surfing. Maybe an option in the setup to allow the user to select the type of behavior.

Thanks for listening.
