How GBPVR records by the way, so all this time confusion could be worked around?

What I meant is (concerning zap2it type of listing):
1- does GBPVR use the -6 GMT settings you give it when you first install it? If no, why we need to enter that settings?
2- Does it use the windows system clock? Looks to me that it is using the windows clock.

Will it use Windows clock for recordings? i.e. My Time zone change I made in windows, will it fix all my problems?

Sub, congrats on your work, it sure beats what Intervideo has done for the Plextor PX-M402U.

My PC setup is: powerful 64bit CPU, WinXP, 512MB RAM

My video input setup is: Little known digital TV provider ("Look" is their name; Zap2it doesn't list it), using S-Video Out from receiver, feeding it to PX-M402U

What I wish to do is: simply, use GB-PVR to schedule recurring recordings; I don't need to (anyway I can't with that setup) control the DTV receiver channel changes (I use the receivers' built-in timers to do that); all I want to do with GB-PVR is control the day, start & end time of recordings (similar to what AVI_IO offers, but AVI_IO doesn't support the M402U).

I must be doing something wrong, because I can't, in the Manual Recording menu, control "record start time" or "recording duration", or "recording quality", etc.; I always get a 1-hour recording with starting time incrementing by 10 minutes depending on actual time.

Can I use GB-PVR without a EPG, i.e. have a 1 channel setup only, where I could manually decide recording parameters ("once on dd/mm/yy", "once a week", "weekdays", "weekends", "once a month", etc.) ?

This has probably already been requested.

I would like to have the ability to control via pin or something what can be played from the net radio, video and music directories.

Is there a wasy to keep GB-PVR from re-adding all the default net radio stations. I added some of my favorites from shoutcast, but keep getting all the others added back after I delete the .pls files.

I only want about 5 stations in my list.

I used to be able to watch a recording in progress by going to the recording section and picking the file, but I don't even see it in the latest version. Is this just me or is it for everyone?

If it is just me then I'll do a re-install or go back to a previous version.

Once my selections are played within Jukebox it would be nice if tracks where continuously played at random. I thought this was the way it worked but it seems it only selects a random track when I press a key. Is this the way it's suppose to work or have I got it wrong? It's a great plugin which would be even better if this worked.

One feature of the Hauppauge software which would be nice to have in GBPVR is the ability to use the numeric keys to jump a certain percentage into a video file e.g. pressing 5 brings you 50 percent into file, pressing 6 60 percent and so on.

I've recently stumbled across the idea of building a PVR from my old desktop computer, it's a pretty decent AMD XP 2400 box with 512MB memory and a big 160GB SATA HDD. Currently all I have is a GeForce 4 128mb gfx card with Video-In / Video-Out.

When all is done I want to be able to record widescreen broadcasts from an NTL digital cable box (in the UK) via Scart / S-Video. Playback video recorded with GB-PVR and other video eg. DIVx on my Sony 100hz CRT via RGB-Scart.

I've seen one Example System that can do this.

I've downloaded GB-PVR and had a play about, but, I have a few questions I was hoping you guys could help me with before I splurge on hardware...

Capture Card

-- As I won't be using the built in tuner ever. Do I really need a card like a PVR 350 that comes with a built in tuner? Are there any simpler(/better) cards out there that just encode/decode?

-- Is hardware encoding the only way to go, is it even possible to encode in software, say using the Video-In on my current graphics card?

-- What capture card would people recommend in my circumstance?

TV-Out

-- Is the Video-Out on my current GFX card usable at all?

-- Is it at all possible to get my computer desktop to display on my TV via TV-Out? (This would be useful for occasional system maintainance)

-- Is it possible to play back DIVx at all via a PVR250/350 even though it wouldn't be hardware decoded or do I need an X-Card or similar for this sort of job?

-- What playback card would people recommend in my circumstance?

Remotes

-- I'll need a remote, but don't really care which one I end up with, am I right in thinking I'll be able to get almost any remote working to control GB-PVR with a bit of effort? (ie. I can worry about this later)

Hi all!

I've just started exploring the wonderfull world of PVR's. My first choice was to buy a Kiss box that did it all for me, but I thought: I could do better than this. And thus I decided to build my own PVR.

I want it to be slick looking, not a PC smack-in-the-middle of my livingroom. I want it to blend in with the rest of my stereo gadgets.

I found this nice looking case:

But what bothers me with this case is I cant really put my own I/O cards in to it - and thus I can't put one of the supported video cards by this software in.

Any one got some good recommendations to cases. Only requirement is it has to be slick looking, have an IR reciever and have possibility to add your own IO cards.
