I've spent the weekend fooling around with Windows MCE and have realised it's overbloated and slow, GB-PVR seems to be exactly what I need
My main goals are having a method of pulling video from sky+ using composite into my pvr-250, watching said stuff and playing mp3's. I'm currently using an epia 800 which I had lying around, but is far too slow for meaningful use.
Seeing that I already have an ITX case I want to stay with the format as the size of the Morex Venus is perfect for our AV stand. I've got my choices down to 2 boards, The Insight P4-ITX and the EPIA MII-12000.
As both only have one pci slot which is obviously used by my pvr-250 I'm limited to their on board cards. From what I understand the P4 has 4xAGP with 32mb of shared RAM and the M-12000 has 4x with up to 64mb of shared RAM.
If I went with the P4 I'd be using an existing 2.4ghz celeron processor. Both boards would have 512MB of RAM.
quick question regarding the OSD transparancy setting.
I set it to 255, and when I switch to live TV, the 1'st occurance of the OSD is non transparant and looks great. However when I use the mini guide, or any other OSD aspects, after that, it comes through transparant again.
Does the config.XML setting only refer to parts of the OSD ?
Is there any way to directly set the audio bitrate when using the Plextor Convertx when capturing divx? It is currently using 224kbps and I would like to use something like 64kbps for very portable recordings.
Great job by the way! This is already a very nice package and a great alternative to the commercial offerings out there.
On my tv screen, using the X-cards S-vid output the left side of the OSD as well as the live-tv or playback misses some millimeters (with the OSD only half a letter or so).
I don't know if that's a TV issue, GB-PVR or X-card, but it's mildly annoying. And yes I've checked "windowed OSD" in the settings (It's worse if I don't).
Im not sure if this should go here , or in wishlist.
I was browsing the SageTV forums, and found a plugin being developed that allows the content of a directory to be encoded from MP2 to Avi.
I set up FFMpeg and converted a few files, and it works great, but a plugin, that did this, would be even better.
I was imagining something like being able to browse the recordings, select some, convert to Divx, move to the video library folder and keep the information that the recordings database seems to store.
I do my conversion manually at the moment, but a plugin to do this would be really useful , and I guess popular.
As of Friday i have found that XMLTV is not returning any program info (other than channel names) when using the tv_grab_uk_rt grabber. I have checked with sourceforge and a couple of other people have reported the same problem with XMLTV.
Is anyone else finding this, and if so, how / where else can i get a uk tv listing as Bleb doesn't cover all the channels i require?
My name is Tobias, im from Sweden and my plan is to help extending the wonderful GB-PVR with a few ideas of my own. For starters, my plan is to develop a certain AlbumPlayer-plugin that sorts all music files in easily playable albums with for example the search/filter options from Bryan Turners JukeboxPlugin.
Reading through this forum is pure inspiration, since everyone seems to be so very helpful. Right now I consider myself a decent webdeveloper with good knowledge in Java, CGI/Perl and PHP while the C# and .NET development is new for me. Its a great chance to extend my knowledge, and to have fun among the way... ;-)
So this is just a "hello and thank you" to sub (who has started this great project in the first place) all of you plugin-developers out there that inspired me to join forces.
A week or so ago I changed the drive setting for my recordings. All existing recordings vanished from my recordings option.
I physically moved the files and they would not come back.
Is there any easy way to reattach them as recordings, or have the programme details now been lost and they should be considered 'videos' and placed in this directory?
Currently there is only a single directory that can be set for Video or Music, what would be good would be the ability to place in these directories shortcuts which can link to other directories/unc locations.
