Being hearing impaired, I rely on closed captioning a lot. And it works great. But activating it could be easier.

Every time I change a channel or start watching a recorded show I have to re-enable closed captioning. It would be great if the closed caption option could be pre-set to be either on or off all the time. Maybe something in the setups?

Or a hot key that would toggle the state of closed captioning?

Hi, I have the HDHomerun Dual which NPVR is able to see when I select Devices in Settings. When I select one of the tuners and scan for the channels under Device Setup all I get is Unable to start device. Can anyone help me with this.

I have installed the HDHomerun setup on my Windows 2012 R2 server and this is detected correctly. I have also run through the setup there and set this to NextPVR in the BDA Compatibility mode setting (actually I have tried this on and off).

This happens sporadically where NPVR records up to 25 recordings of the same show. I have attached a screen print from today. Any advise on how to prevent this in the future is appreciated.

If you set up a tv program to record for extra time,( e.g. I set up football games to go an hour long, just in case) you can open up the guide, double click and hit cancel without erasing the recording. It stops wherever the program was when you hit cancel and saves to the hard drive.
Just thought I would add this. Couldn't find the info in the forum so I tried it and found it works.

Currently using zap2xml and I am having problems with a couple of channels (Cartoon network and Nickelodeon) The Guide shows all of the correct shows that are airing but does not give me specific episode information (episode synopsis, or season or episode number). Has anyone run into this problem before and know how to fix it? Don't know if it matters but the service provider is Comcast.

The Kodi epg guide using the NextPVR addon does not highlight or somehow indicate that a show is scheduled to be recorded. How to fix this?

Unfortunately my previously reliable NPVR server suffered a power problem caused by a failed power supply fan & overheating and the result of the abrupt power outage corrupted the system disk.
I did have a backup to recover from but it was 2 years old so somewhat out-of-date. [Lesson learnt :-( ]

Having recovered the system disk and updated everything I could think of (including re-building the recordings list), I once again have a working media centre.

The above said, I'm now seeing regular NPVR crashes when a recording has finished being watched.

I'm using the TV Listings plugin and it is the latest version.

Any ideas where to start looking?

This is on 3.9.2 as I'm holding off upgrading till the latest version has had some time to become stable.

When I schedule a show to record and select Record Season (New Episodes On This Channel) it records old and new episodes. Is there any way to just record the new episodes?

My PVR has a Hauppauge 1609 tuner card. It came with a winky dinky remote control, that doesn't seem to work with NPVR, it didn't even seem to work with the Hauppauge software to well either. I would like a remote that works with all my other devices (TV,DVD player and Direc TV receiver more may be added later). I know Logitech has several remotes, at least one of which is suppose to be compatible with more devices then most other remotes. I do not want to buy it though without being sure it will work with my card.

Anybody have any recommendations for a good reliable remote control. For what it is worth I prefer Logitech devices ad currently have a Logitech mouse and keyboard if it happens to use the same USB receiver.

I am currently using a wireless mouse and keyboard as a remote.

First please let me say that I have wanted a PVR for years. For the last decade or so I have only Direc TV which my understanding, there is no tuner card that will work. In other words to watch TV with Direct TV you have to use their DVRs and receivers. I recently decided to put up an aerial antenna and was surprised at how many channels I could get. So I decided that I would use my tax refund to build a PVR. However, I still do not have it set up the way I want it, need more money for that!

That being said I have been experiencing quit a few issues of NextPVR, these are listed in ascending order of importance:

1. First npvr hangs or freezes, then in a few seconds Windows forces it to close. Sometimes opening the program and continuing the video it will crash again and other times there are no issues. I cannot swear to it, but it mostly seems to be only happen with programs recorded on one channel. This can occur several times watching a ½ hour program, however I am currently almost 2 hours since the last crash
   
2. Channel 2.2 (LAFF) has four fours of one show I want to record daily, this show is the main reason I put up the aerial in the first place, for some reason only 2 hours of the four are recorded
   
3. Occasionally, some of my channels disappear, for a lack of a better way to put it. I currently do not have a remote that works, so I tune using the on-screen controls with a mouse. Sometimes channels 2.1 (ABC), 2.2 (LAFF) and 2.3 (BOUNC) are not available. Of these three 2.2 is the only one I currently care about. I am not sure about any others. I usually only watch shows that have been record so I can skip through the commercials.
   
4. I am not sure if it is from signal loss on the aerial that I am using or if it is a glitch with the software or what, but it seems video is skipped or missing.
   
5. I am using Schedules Direct to download programming data. However, it does not download data for all channels. I realize that they may not have data for all channels, I just want to verify that there is not something else going on. Some of the channels are again 2.1 2.2 and 2.3. For these channels I download the data over the antenna which only downloads about 12 hours at a time, that makes me a little uncomfortable, but if that is the way it is, then I will just have to deal with it. If it would at least download 24 hours at a time it wouldn’t be too bad.
   
6. Sometimes the video is in slow motion and the audio at normal speed for a few seconds, may 5 or 10 but not more than that. Then they are both at normal speeds
   
7. Occasionally, even though npvr is fast forwarding through the video at a high rate I still hear audio. When I stop it from fast forwarding it skips to the end of the video.
