NextPVR on Kodi drops guide data and channels after awaking
Posted by: StroppyOz - 2017-10-07, 02:58 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (9)

Hi,

I've got a problem which only happens when Kodi wakes from sleep. After the PC wakes, I find that I never have any guide data and on some occasions I have no channels at all. Restarting Kodi fixes the problem. Guide data and channels seems to be all present and accounted for if I access it through NextPVR itself.

I'm using NextPVR 4.0.4 and Kodi 17.4 (I've tried nightly builds to see if it fixes the problem but it doesn't) on a Windows 10 Pro OS. Can send logs if required just let me know which ones (I've found the auto log uploader to be a bit flakey as it generally says the website's unavailable but here's (https://paste.ubuntu.com/25659622/) a log I did manage to upload).

I'm at a loss to explain what's going on here. I don't think it's NextPVR but could it be the plugin? Could it be a firewall rule issue (I'm not sure how the addin accesses NextPVR's info)? Any thoughts?

SRJ.

  HDHomerun Quatro
Posted by: pcostanza - 2017-10-07, 01:16 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

Anyone try one of the very new HDHR Quatro boxes yet? Just got one today and the HDHR DVR picks it up by scans are not working in NPVR. No firewall problems that I can see.
I'll try again and if no luck, can send logs.

  Zap2xml
Posted by: shaboobala - 2017-10-07, 01:05 AM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (1)

Currently using zap2xml and I am having problems with a couple of channels (Cartoon network and Nickelodeon) The Guide shows all of the correct shows that are airing but does not give me specific episode information (episode synopsis, or season or episode number). Has anyone run into this problem before and know how to fix it? Don't know if it matters but the service provider is Comcast.

White dotted lines at top of tv recordings
Posted by: Rainbowserpant - 2017-10-06, 09:27 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hi there

I record a lot of music videos with next pvr.

Some recorded music videos show a dotted white line across the top of the edge of the video.

NOTE - it only happens with some video clips, it seems to depend on the aspect ratio of the video clip whether it happens or not?

When viewing the video clips live on tv in next pvr or kodi the whole videos are stretched to the edges of the screen so there are no black borders around the edges usually.

However when I then view the recording the video is smaller with a black border showing around it rather than stretched to the edge of the screen like the live original?

Is there a way to make the recordings record and/or playback the same way (ie so the video clip takes up the whole screen), I assume this would resolve the problems of the white lines?

If not is there some way to stop the white lines?

I have attached a logs and 3 screenshots, 1 shows video without the white lines, 2 others show the white lines.

I appreciate any assistance.

Steve

  Problem with Main Menu display
Posted by: onedognight - 2017-10-06, 02:02 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I have NextPVR installed on a PC driving a DTV via HDMI and a NVIDIA GeForce 210 and using a wireless keyboard and mouse. Everything worked beautifully until I started fiddling.
Now, when I start the app the Main Menu page displays but the scaling (correct term?) is wrong. If I click on Recordings, I get Search. If I click on Live TV, I get Music. If I click on Pictures, the app Exits. I can't get to TV Guide or Live TV from the Main Menu. You get the idea!
All the functions appear to work fine, I just can't access them from the Main Menu.
I have tried the typicals, like delete and re-install.
Any ideas?
Thanks in anticipation.

New user looking for setting controls?
Posted by: nofronts - 2017-10-05, 04:02 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

I recently updated to windows 10 and was a long time WMC user for OTA TV through my antenna. With the upgrade i decided to switch over to NEXTPVR for my OTA viewing. I am 100% happy with how easy the set up was and the interface but is there a way to fine tune the picture quality? I have an LG 55OLEDC7P and the live TV is very pixelated. I understand that im stretching a 1080i picture to 2160p but it looks like its just stretching the picture rather then up converting it. Where the pixel edges are pretty much just sharp corners with no smoothing at all?

On my old 1080p TV with WMC live TV the picture was outstanding and better then with my 4K TV. Are there any tips you can give me to optimize the OTA video quality so that it looks smother and better? I looked in NEXTPVR but im not finding any settings. Do I need to adjust the TV setting or even the Nvidia? I would rather adjust in NEXTPVR because other video from Netflix or BD disc is great and i have no issues there.

Include channel name or LCN in the filename
Posted by: martinu - 2017-10-05, 12:29 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

When recording programmes that are on several different channels (eg new episodes on one channel and repeated episodes on another, or where the same programme is available on both SD and HD channels) it would be useful for there to be a Settings | Recording | File Naming tick-box option to include either the channel name or the channel's LCN in the filename, to allow them to be distinguished. The channel name is included in the matching XML file, but this is only created once the recording has finished, and isn't visible during recording. Also, it is useful to be able to check in the Status Monitor tray icon.

Maybe a filename could be BBC News at One_LCN 101_20171005_13001330 versus BBC News at One_LCN 1_20171005_13001330 or else BBC News at One_BBC One NE&C_20171005_13001330 versus BBC News at One_BBC One HD_20171005_13001330. Including the channel gives added confirmation in the status monitor that the correct version is being recorded, and to distinguish new from repeated episodes when they are saved to the same folder (because they are the same programme title).

This feature is one of the few things that I miss that was in Windows Media Centre.

NPVR DRM & getting started with new h/w
Posted by: WiiGame - 2017-10-05, 04:33 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I did try to find this info out here first. And I usually *way* overwrite initial help posts with every detail and totally lose the TL;DR crowd, so I'll *try* to keep it slimmer and just answer any further questions as we go along.

BACKGROUND:
I want to upgrade my existing WMC-on-Win7Home HTPC from i3-2100+HD2000 / Intel H67 / 4GB-RAM to something like Kaby Lake Pentium+HD630 / B250M / 8GB RAM. I just want it to playback 2 windows of moving video while cutting commercials via VideoReDo, converting files, and copying them away, all at the same time; is that too much to ask? Smile I was going to keep all other h/w the same.

[Un]fortunately, just before pulling the trigger I found out Microsoft&Co are screwing us WMCers more quickly than I ever thought because now (first time in history) new hardware won't reliably run with a still supported OS, Win7+WMC (not allowing us to last until 2020). OMG, I can't say what I wish on Microsoft here without getting banned from my very first post.

GOAL:
Proof the concept that I can successfully run other software to do what MS WMC does, just as well, that can also run on Win10 if I'm going to be forced to it now. If that works and family approves, I can move to new h/w & Win10; otherwise, I guess I give-up or find older h/w to upgrade for now.

What WMC does for me today:
- allows me to play & record live Clear QAM channels via a hand-me-down Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1250 card, which still works great BTW
- allows me to play & record live cable channels (free & DRM) via a SD HomeRunHD 3ch external box with a CableCARD in it (less reliable than the internal card)
[so, when I record, I have to manually manage that there's only 1 tuner for QAM & 3 for cable; and that's fine]
- plays DVD discs in the box
- via MediaBrowser, WMC serves up & plays my backed-up unripped DVDs, recordings (TS & WTV), and VHS home movie transfers
- also allows me to do the previous three on a lesser TV via a old laptop also running WMC on Win7 configured the same

Peripherally, I also run a Hauppage Colossus from the STB & VCR, but that's not a WMC thing.

PROGRESS:
My research led me to Kodi, and then to NextPVR with SAF codecs. Through trial & error and without MS codecs (to prove it out), I got QAM to NPVR and to NPVR-Kodi plug-in to Kodi all working. I also got cable via SD HRHD-Kodi plug-in to Kodi to work, but the SD-HR won't allow recording of HR cable channels that way, so I scrapped that idea.

CURRENT POSITION:
Last night I got NPVR to work (sketchily) with QAM channels and copy free cable channels (in anticipation of going through Kodi), but HBO (and I do currently have on STB & CableCARD to WMC) won't show me even 1 frame of audio or video in NPVR, though the device status shows it's at least connected to a correct file name, the box's green light comes on, and it seems to possibly be working in the background.

I say "sketchily" b/c last night NPVR would often randomly freeze or just not respond to keyboard commands or mouse clicks until I restarted the services. I dunno about that.

Q1: Am I even approaching this whole WMC replacement correctly? I feel lost in the weeds here.

Q2: Does NPVR allow/support copy protected cable content behind the CableCARD? [I figure WMC can do it seemingly easily, so other similar products else can, too? I mean, the CableCARD already gave the "permission," right?]

Q3: I read in the NPVR Wiki one statement that NPVR supports SD-HRHD "natively" but I could find no further specifics. Does that mean I should just be treating the SD tuners exactly like the WinTV card? Or should I instead follow the SD instructions for HDHR & NPVR I found HERE? (I would trust instructions directly from NPVR more than SD's.)

I'm learning most of these TV details as I go along so, please, be gentle. Thanks!
WG Cool

P.S. I think I'm including the correct logs here.

  Playback problems resolved
Posted by: Tacoma - 2017-10-04, 12:37 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

From the time I updated to ver. 4.0.4, I had problems with playback - video/audio sync, live TV, recordings, EPG video not starting, video hanging after skip. I downloaded numerous patches. Each one either made no difference, solved one problem but created another or just created a new problem. I installed a recent patch for the NPVRTSReader4.ax. After that the video playback displayed was pixelated at the bottom. I decided to install an older version of the patch. At the same time I updated to the K-Lite 13.5.8 LAV codecs. To my amazement, when I started to playback video, NEXTpvr worked without a problem. I am now running NEXTpvr on 2 machines using LAV codecs for audio and video. Recording and playback are working without a problem.

I am uploading the patched files I am using. Maybe this will work for you.

  Search not highlighting pending recording
Posted by: jdwirtz - 2017-10-03, 02:42 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

I'm using version 4.04(70820). Seems in the past that when I have a series set to record,
that when I went to Search, those shows would be highlighed in red. Now it snly shows red
while I'm in Search, when I come back later it's not. Also, pending recording are not marked
on web interface either.
Did I miss a setting or am I just remembering it wrong.
