certain shade of blue becomes pink in video encoded by HD PVR2
Posted by: wmclaxton - 2017-03-23, 03:35 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I am using two Hauppauge HD-PVR2 encoders to record from two Set-Top Boxes using the HDMI out (routed through a splitter to remove the copy protection). Most channels record beautifully, but I am having an issue when recording CNN. As seen in the attached images, all the colors are correct except for a particular shade of blue which becomes pink. It is more obvious in the close up, and not all scenes have this effect, but it particularly appears when there is a set with blue backgrounds.

This effect is not visible on a monitor, only when viewing the signal on a PC, ie- via the HD-PVR2. The issue is present on two different STBs and two different HD-PVR2s.

Odd sounds/graphical glitches in all recordings.
Posted by: pilgrim2223 - 2017-03-23, 06:38 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (18)

Hi.

This is an odd one but I've now seen it enough to start thinking there's something odd going on here.

At this time of year I only record off two channels, Local Fox for 24, and HD CW for the nerd shows (Don't judge)

I use a Windows 7 64 bit home Premium connected to an HDHR3-US all wired together and happy. I have no Codecs installed on this system as it runs mostly headless and is not used for playback (recorder only)

The fox station is a 100/100/100 signal and never drops out. The CW is 100/68/68 some little flexing here and there but mostly rock solid around there, and never dipping past the cliff.

I've been using different PVR systems (WMC, MYTHTV, and so on) and am now moving into NextPVR (which I'm pretty happy with... BUT)

In every single recording I get some artifacts every now and then (normally a single line through the picture)

I'm also hearing an occasional Chirp... not too much hard, to notice, but once you notice it you can't stop.

I tried on two different systems, with different players (NPVR, VLC, and KODI) and all show the exact same behavior... so different systems, different codecs, it's got to be the files. It's also not a glitch while streaming as it is repeatable.

Also to note. This exact same hardware has been recording things for 5 some odd years without these issues... so thinking it's some setting somewhere in NPVR that I missed. The only thought I've had is that it could be comskip running in parallel (the recording system is an older I5 with 8 gig of RAM... so not a beast but it should be enough) Not sure if that's impacted anything yet.

So anyone have any ideas?

Can NextPVR cause my TV to randomly turn on?
Posted by: rosede - 2017-03-22, 06:46 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I have a Sony Bravia and I use Kodi 16.1 on a RPi2 and NextPVR 3.9.2 (161119) as the source. I stood up a new NPVR machine a month or so ago. The machine is a Windows 7 Pro installation.

I'm not sure when this started, but I think that it started about the time I stood up the new NPVR machine, but my TV turns on a random times. Usually it happens when I'm not home, or during the night when I'm asleep. However, I witnessed it personally for the first time. I was sitting working at the computer when I heard the TV click on. I watched it start up, and then I saw the channel list populate, just as if I had rebooted the Pi. Whenever I reboot the Pi, it pulls the channel list from the PVR and populates the channel list.

Is there something in the configuration that I might have set that would cause this? Something that would send a signal to the Pi and then to my TV? I've looked through the logs. What I find interesting is that at the top of the NPVR.log is what appears to be NextPVR starting up.

This is about 10 minutes after the the TV mysteriously turned on. There are no entries for the time period of when the TV turned on, at least not in the NPVR.log. There are entries in the web.log and NRecord.log for that time period, but they look benign.

Anything that I can look at? Thoughts?

Thank you.

Daryl

no live TV or video playback - NEXTPVR crashes
Posted by: rhlane - 2017-03-22, 02:22 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I was out of town last week and Microsoft installed several updates to my Windows 10 machine. Now NEXTPVR runs and records fine, but I cannot playback files. At first the video decoder was disabled. I tried other decoders and now no playback. I have uninstalled software and downloaded and installed 3.9.2. When I try playback or live TV, Microsoft says "NextPVR has stopped working" Please help. I have attached logs. Thanks.

Kodi 17.1 Android NextPVR load startup crash
Posted by: biggertigger - 2017-03-22, 01:02 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - No Replies

Hi All,
Upgraded to Kodi 17.1 last night on my Android 5 tablet (did an uninstall of 17.0 & fresh install of 17.1). Kodi launches fine w/o addons, but when I add NextPVR, it crashes when starting. This didn't happen on 17.0. Any ideas? Thanks.

  Difficulty with menu screen resolution
Posted by: JB06176 - 2017-03-21, 10:38 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hello,

I have been having issues with NextPVR crashing as mentioned in several other posts-but that is a separate issue.

However, while I was trying to troubleshoot this issue, I accidentally changed the appearance of the main menu ("home") screen and I cannot get it to return to the default. It appears to be zoomed into the upper left corner and I cannot see the entire window. See attached image.

Do you have any suggestions on how I might be able to resolve this? I have tried to uninstall and reinstall NextPVR with no effect.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

  Client Live TV Freeze
Posted by: sidz - 2017-03-21, 10:10 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Hi everyone,

Has been a while since I've needed help with NPVR. Smile

I've recently moved to a server/client setup to free up space in the lounge and get rid of ambient noise from an always on fan.
Using an Intel NUC (NUC5i5RYH) as the client on Windows 10, and an HP xw8600 (dual CPU 32GB RAM, Server 2012) as the server in the loft.

There's a slight delay with any action (channel chage, stop/start), but that is not my problem here.

When watching live TV, I get regular pauses of the image and sound, and quite recently complete freezing that doesn't clear until I hit stop.
With these pauses and freezes, the screen displays a black and grey pattern that kind of looks like space invaders...

I've attached copies of the server and client logs. The example freeze took a lot longer than usual to appear.
Running 3.9.2 on both machines. I have the client directed to the IP of the server, and am not using MS DTV-DVD (using LAV). Firewall rules are fully open to NPVR on both server and client. Using powerline homeplugs beween client and switch. Server is Cat5 to switch.

Hope that is enough info, let me know if you need anything else.

regards
Sidz.

  egp collector Genre problem kodi
Posted by: gromgsxr - 2017-03-21, 09:59 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I have started using egp collector so i can fill in a few missing channels epg data, its cool that you can get npvr to run the batch file to make that update before it updates its own epg. however in kodi any channels im getting the egp data from the xml created from epg collector, the genre colour codes do not work it displays the genre info but the colour coding does not work. I believe this is a result of the genre and sub genre being separated by a - where as the channels that npvr collects the data for are separated by a /.

any idea how i can fix this?

Thanks
