  Nextpvr has stopped working
Posted by: paul0926 - 2017-03-19, 11:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I've been using NextPVR for a couple of years with no problems, however since the last Windows 10 update I cant get it to work for live TV, the EPG works fine.
When I hit the live TV function I get the following message 'NextPVR has stopped working correctly. Windows will close the program & notify you if a solution is available'
I've checked my DVB-T hardware which appears to function OK, it works fine with Blaze software. My computer skills are somewhat basic so reading logfiles or even knowing which one to check is limited. I tried uninstalling & reinstalling an earlier version 3.5.7 but still no joy.

  Clear QAM Channels Stopped Working?
Posted by: T5740 - 2017-03-19, 05:51 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

A few weeks ago my clear QAM channels on my basic cable stopped tuning. When I tune to them all I get is a black screen and nothing else. All of my analog channels have continued to work just fine. I thought maybe my cable company encrypted them but I went to two separate tv's and did a channel scan on them and they all still pick up the clear qam HD channels just fine? I tried changing decoders to just about everything available to no avail. Any insight you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Nextpvr unable to properly initialize hauppauge 1955 video device for capture video
Posted by: Leonard Campbell - 2017-03-19, 03:04 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I have a haupauge 1955 that is connected via composite and svideo to an ALLO device (Cisco ipvideo settop device that only provides these outputs) It works great- channel changing works but it has one issue. Nextpvr cannot initialize the Haupauge correctly. After every boot I have to start WINTV before Nextpvr otherwise i just get video static (Audio works just fine). Here is sample timeline:

2017-03-18 20:44 reboot
2017-03-18 20:44 Start nextpvr
2017-03-18 20:45 LiveTV - Static
2017-03-18 20:45 Kill nextpvr
2017-03-18 20:46 start WINTV - works just fine.
2017-03-18 20:46 Kill wintv
2017-03-18 20:47 start nextpvr
2017-03-18 20:47 Livetv - works

  changing channel
Posted by: gromgsxr - 2017-03-18, 06:53 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (3)

if i'm watching live tv in kodi and i change channel to one that is not broadcasting anything, it causes kodi to throw a fit, it almost locks up and slows down the user input, then about 60 seconds later i get the tuner not available notification and i can get on with stuff. is there anyway to get past this?

Can't change Recording Type of Recurring Recordings in v3.9.2
Posted by: MattInetroit - 2017-03-18, 01:53 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I'm unable to adjust the Recording Types of existing Recurring Recordings. For instance, I've been recording "All Episodes" of "Ask This Old House", but now I've decided I only want to record "New Episodes". I can't alter the existing settings. I'd have to delete it from Recurring Recordings, and create a new one to replace it. For testing I've also tried adjusting Recurring shows that are currently set at "All New Episodes", but can't change them either.

To reproduce:

  • Enter the Recordings Menu
  • Scroll over to Recurring Recordings
  • Pick a recording currently shceduled for "All Episodes". In my example, "Ask This Old House"
  • Press Enter/Ok
  • Scroll down to "Update"
  • From "Recording Type" try to change "All Episodes" to "New Episodes Only"..... it doesn't let me change or see the other options. Left and right doesn't work. Using the mouse cursor to click on the < and > buttons also does nothing.
  • However, Pre-Padding, Post-Padding, Directory, and Keep can all be changed with the left and right arrows as well as the < and > buttons.

I believe it worked in the previous version.

Thanks

NPVR Stopped working, but in a different way...
Posted by: volfin - 2017-03-17, 07:17 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

As of yesterday 3/15, Everything was working fine, and has been working fine for awhile now.

But then Today (3/16) Windows 10 had an update, KB3150513, which states it's an update to Compatibility definitions. But now after this update, I don't get any Video recorded.

My setup is a Ceton InifiTV 4, connecting to NextPVR using the DRI Interface. The Ceton reports everything is fine, and NPVR behaves as if everything is fine. But any attempt to record a show, or watch Live TV, just presents a black screen. There's no error messages, or failures or crashes. Just Black screen.

I wish it was the type of failure reported elsewhere, because at least there's a solution. but I'm really at a loss since there's no errors to point me in any direction.

  Problems after Windows Update KB4013429
Posted by: Bobbybear - 2017-03-16, 04:08 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I run NPVR on two Windows 10 PC's
One is my main PC used for Video editing and Graphics runs on Windows 10 Pro 1607
The second is a PVR under my TV running on Windows 10 Home 1607
Yesterday Microsoft rolled out it's monthly updates and they installed on my Windows 10 Pro machine and everything seems to work just fine.
After my PVR Windows 10 Home machine updated, NPVR crashes everytime I try to play video...
I took a look at the updates and uninstalled KB4013429 and now everything works again just fine!!
I have run Microsoft tool "wushowhide.diagcab" to hide this update and prevent it from installing short term so I can use the PVR.
I have attached all the .log files from today.
I hope someone can point me in the right direction, I do like to keep my PC's up to date.
Thanks
Bob

  Suddenly NPVR doesn't work
Posted by: HansJoachim - 2017-03-16, 09:27 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (29)

NPVR has been working great for a long time but suddenly it doesn't work. I'm using Windows 10 (64-bit). I've tried to restart the recording device but that doesn't help. I get this message:

My recording device works fine with DVBViewer. I've also tried uninstalling and then reinstalling NPVR.
I have attached my logs.

  truncated recordings
Posted by: drbenjamin - 2017-03-16, 04:50 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

All

Lately my wife has noted that occasionally recordings are truncated after only a few seconds of recording. It is sporadic, and I can't see anything in the logs that suggests a problem. 2 examples in the logs are a Face-Off episode recorded 3/7 at 17:59 which contains only 9 seconds of video and an episode of Legion recorded 3/1 at 21:59 that has only 20 seconds. Grateful for any assistance, WAF is dropping precipitously Smile

Dennis

PS Just noticed that the thread immediately prior to mine ("incomplete recordings") describes the same issue, although my recordings are always either complete or just a few seconds long, no 10 minute recordings I'm aware of. My setup is a pretty new machine running Windows 10 and a HD-PVR connected to component outs from the set top box. I do have occasional issues with the HD-PVR where it seems to lock up and lose signal and I have to restart it, but when that happens we end up with a full length recording of a black screen, not a truncated recording with the correct show displayed. This truncation has been happening only over the past month or two, which makes me wonder if a Windows 10 update is involved. Last thing I can think of is that my recordings are going to an external drive (USB3) as that one has the most free space.

  Incomplete recordings
Posted by: tallpilot - 2017-03-16, 03:37 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I've been using NextPVR for years, without any issues for the most part. My configuration: I have an antenna in the attic that is connected to a HDHomeRun Connect tuner, which is connected directly to my wireless router. My PC has a TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 wireless adapter. This setup has worked flawlessly for years.

Recently, most of my recordings are incomplete. A 30-minute or an hour long recorded show will only contain anywhere for few seconds to 10 minutes of video. A few recordings will be complete, but most are incomplete. The NRecord log file shows that the recording was started/terminated at the correct times. I sat at the computer and monitored the recordings one evening, and the NextPVR UI displayed that the shows were being recorded (as well as the NextPVR icon in the system tray... it stayed "red" for the correct amount of time). Those recordings also ended up being incomplete.

I thought the problem was that my Windows 10 computer had gotten sluggish, so I upgraded the RAM and performed a fresh install of Windows 10. Unfortunately, the problem occurred again last night and tonight. The recording of "The Middle" was only 23 seconds, the recording of Modern Family was 10 minutes, 21 seconds, and the recording of Lethal Weapon was 2 minutes, 50 seconds.

The only other change during this time is that I upgraded my wireless router to a Linksys WRT1900ACS (originally had the Linksys AC 1200). The computer is close to the router, and I haven't noticed any connection issues. Again, I've had this setup for several years with the AC 1200 wireless connection with no problems.

I've attached the logs. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
