I bought a quad SAT>IP tuner several years ago but although NextPVR detects the tuners it will not “Tune” them. I now use them with TVheadend just to watch live TV.
After one of my PCi DVB-S2 tuners recently failed I setup a NextPVR test server to investigate the problem. With a clean install of Windows, NextPVR and EPG Collector which I use for the EPG, NextPVR is able to tune the SAT>IP tuners and finds all expected channels. However if I copy over the database from the live server the tuners no longer work so I return to using the new clean database. So that is one problem to investigate later but that file is many years old so may have gained some corruption so will work with the new file for now!
The EPG data is collected using EPG Collector to download the Freeview (DVB-T) and the dedicated Freesat EPG using the existing EPG Collector setup files from the live server. The only change made is that the Freesat.ini file is changed to use a specific SAT>IP tuner. If I run UpdateEPG.bat manually both EPG files are created. If I now click Update EPG at the bottom of the first Settings page UpdateEPG.bat runs but the Freesat EPG file is not created. NextPVR now starts scanning several DVB-T and DVB-S frequencies and says it has added almost 9000 EPG entries.
If UpdateEPG.bat is run in or by NextPVR the satellite scan fails with “No Tuner Found” error but the DVB-T scan works as normal! If I run updateEPG.bat the SAT>IP tuner is found and the Freesat EPG data file is created!
Reboot 16:18
16:22 Start Update EPG on main settings page.”Running UpdateEPG.bat”
New Freeview DVB-T file created but no Freesat DVB-S as tuner not found.
16:30 Starts scanning several DVB-T and DVB-S frequencies
16:40 EPG Update complete
Logs of EPG Update enclosed!
First post here. I'm formally a HDHomeRun user, and new to the NextPVR world. I've been a Kodi user, because of how simple I can turn an old computer into a device that can do OTA Tv and make it all seem like it's like an expensive set top box. But my HDHR decided it wanted to die. I saw the Tablo devices, and thought it would be cool to upgrade and add DVR functionality (since HDHR seems to have a subscription). Originally doing my research, I thought Tablo had a plugin for Kodi, but I did not dive deep enough into the research it seems. Though I would really like to get my Tablo working. I know that NextPVR is a plugin that looks to work with Kodi, so here I am.
I'm an armature tech person, thought I might be able to figure this out. I have tried installing both Win11 Pro (64bit) and Ubuntu Server 22.04 (using the full install, I tried with minimal and ran into other issues). I downloaded the 'TabloTV-2.0.5.zip', extrated the 4 files, and uploaded it to both systems in the corresponding NextPVR folder location. Following the instructions from the main page https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=63291
I seem to be able to get everything installed, get the files copied over, and run the setup. Both boxes are returning that it looks like trying to access the Tablo device returns an "Unauthorized" 401 error:
Code:

Am I missing a step? I thought maybe it was my OS, that's why I tried both just to make sure. Now that both are returning thee same thing, I am wondering if maybe my device is too new and/or an updated firmware release is why this is happening. I wanted to check if anyone else has run into any issues? I've been looking at this all weekend. And rebuilt the OSes a couple of times to make sure I was not missing something or made a mistake and got the same results. Hoping for a fresh pair of eyes to point out my mistakes, I can be more detailed of my steps taken to do the installs, but was hoping with the above error someone might know where to go from here.
Or tell me it doesn't work and I have to wait for the Tablo team to push out the app for my Tv. Currently using Bluestacks to install the TabloTv app to get it to work, but it's SOOOO clunky. Plus I'm liking what I see can be done with NextPVR, was hoping to get comfortable and start using it with my setup.
I just wondered if any thought has gone into this. It seems to me that many manufacturers are going to RF remotes. Fortunately for me, my Verizon boxes still have IR receivers even though the remotes are RF. Is there a way to convert IR to RF or some other way to control an RF only device with NextPVR? Sorry if I missed an answer to this.
I have just installed a TBS 6285 card and NextPVR.
When I go to settings, the card is listed, so I proceed to the scan channels section.
The drop down listing of countries does not include Australia, only Germany and Netherlands and a couple of others.
I reviewed the video from "Sub" (New Zealand) and his list of countries is significantly more than the one I am viewing.
I have tried the All Countries scans with no success.
Am I missing something.
I am definitely not a computer expert.
Computer is running WIN 11.
I had Uidroid set up perfectly to my liking, then accidentally deleted it. Now that I've reinstalled it I can't recall how to get to the settings menu. :-(
Hi. My wife reported this to me for a solution and I could not solve it so I am passing it on. This popped at least several versions ago, as it used to work ok in earlier days I am told.
Starting from the TV GUIDE screen in the client the mouse generally works ok on most of this screen. The problem centers on the "3 bars and MENU" in the top left of the client. You can travel most of the TV GUIDE screen with your mouse and select or get action by one click of the left mouse. Oddly this is true for the MENU button only some of the time, usually a minority of the time.
I can travel the TV Guide and with one click view the story line of each tv show. However if I return to the top left I would expect that one click on MENU would return me to the previous screen. However MENU ignores mouse clicks most of the time. The only available options are 1) hit ENTER once with the mouse over the MENU button or 2) hit escape twice.
If I do slide my mouse over to GROUPS or KEYWORDS it suddenly recognizes a mouse click but not when I return to MENU, only ENTER. The odd part again is that clicking on Group or Keyword changes something possibly randomly because on occasion when returning to MENU it will accept a mouse click and return me to the previous menu.
This HTPC is on Windows 10 Pro with all updates applied every day as Mr Softee sends them over. Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045 currently
I can already envision the nights we will spend binging on these videos, trying to push each other's limits and see who can handle the most extreme forced sex scenes. It's a challenge I am looking forward to, one that will only bring us closer.
In the past NPVR (v4.x) could play a VIDEO_TS (.dvd file) automatically or I could have it auto-mount an .iso file to play the DVD. When I attempt that in v6.x, it'll throw a NotImplementedException exception. I'm assuming that it truly is not implemented and not something wrong with my configuration? If it is not implemented, is there any plans to add it back in the near future?
Figured I'd share this script in case someone might find it useful. I recently lost my NextPVR setup. I'll spare the gory details but after spending an evening rebuilding NextPVR I swore I'd never go thru that pain again.
The script creates a zip of all the files needed to restore NextPVR to a new system and copies the file to a NAS mount. I'm not a coder but it works, YMMV. You'll need to change any paths to fit your use case and run daily from a cron job to fully automate it.
The script creates a zip file containing copies of the /var/opt/nextpvr/ directory to include the npvr.db3, user defined channel icons, user defined scripts, config.xml and any .xml files such as extra files. It also backs up any .m3u in /home/npvr/ directory. Once the zip is created locally it's moved a mount point on my NAS. (/backups/NextPVR/ in this case)
In short the script does 6 steps:
# 1. Creates local zip named "YYYY-MM-DD_NPVR_backup"
# 2. Copies the local zip to the NAS mount
# 3. Deletes the local copy of the zip
# 4. Deletes any backups older than 30 days
# 5. Checks the log file and rotates it if needed
# 6. Deletes any logs older than 30 days
The idea is to completely automate it and not require any monitoring.
Code:
#! /usr/bin/bash
# script to zip the data files for NextPVR and move it to a share on a NAS
# the script is designed to require minimal monitoring and performs 6 steps:
# 1. Creates local zip named "YYYY-MM-DD_NPVR_backup"
# 2. Copies the local zip to the NAS mount
# 3. Deletes the local copy of the zip
# 4. Deletes any backups older than 30 days
# 5. Checks the log file and rotates it if needed
# 6. Deletes any logs older than 30 days
# "npvr" is the system user in this case
# Create a mount on the NAS - this is mapped to "/mnt/backups/" on the local machine
# run a a a cron job to automate it

I have a brand new computer with all the bells and whistles (Windows 11, of course). Using a HD Homerun Connect with 2 tuners (like on the old rig). Setting up the new computer on Friday I downloaded the install software and it ran fine and the program fully worked as usual.
I cleaned out some of the windows included bloatware and now, when I try to select a program, I get the error screen below. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling NextPVR a couple times, no luck. HD Homerun software works fine - tv shows, schedule, etc. are there. In the NextPVR web app I can see the tuners, they scan properly, I set up the desired channels, but when I try to watch them in the app it says "no tuner found." I'd really like to get this working again as I use the recording process all the time. Any ideas out there?
