Can no longer schedule recurring recordings
Posted by: Higgo - 2024-10-21, 10:47 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (5)

Hi, I am using NextPVR Version: 6.1.5.231022 on Windows 10 home OS Build 19045.5011, on replaced C: drive with Windows reinstall.
Prior to this rebuild, NextPVR.exe would allow me to schedule on-going recordings of programs broadcast daily (e.g., the 7:00 p.m. news) and the interface would immediately colour that program's timeslot red.  If I scrolled to the next day, the program's timeslot would also be highlighted as scheduled.
Now, none of that appears to work.  I go through the process of scheduling a recording, that program's timeslot does not change colour nor does it for any subsequent day.  Not only does it not indicate a recording is scheduled, it doesn't record.
The only way I have found to schedule a recording is to select "Quick Record", but of course this is just for one broadcast.
This is really bugging me: NextPVR used to be fine: what went wrong?

  NLite access to directory shares
Posted by: Bobins - 2024-10-20, 02:57 PM - Forum: NLite - Replies (8)

When using NLite on the NPVR server, if I go to the Music, Pictures or Video directory, NLite responds with Directory Unavailable.

The directories are defined in the config on the NPVR server (although they are all shares on another device). NextPVR.exe does display the directories when run on the server.
If I define a local directory in the config on the server, NLite will display the contents, it just seems unable to access shares which NextPVR.exe can access.

Am I missing a config or permission somewhere that would enable NLite to see the directories?

  Edit domain name only
Posted by: BigKahuna - 2024-10-19, 09:18 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (1)

My IPTV provider has flakey domains.  I would rather not re-import all the channels and redo my lists.  Is there a simple way to edit the device settings to just alter the http domain name.

  Radxa x4
Posted by: mvallevand - 2024-10-19, 05:50 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (35)

For fun I picked up a Radxa X4 https://radxa.com/products/x/x4/ since I wanted to see how a true minimum Windows 11 client/server would work with NextPVR.  For this test I ordered the 4GB/32MB version so probably you can't go smaller than that since it is well under the Win 11 spec.  This was $80 US $112 CDN (shipping is always high for these SBC's)

I already had an USB 3 power supply so that kept the cost down.  However the first thing I noticed is that as their web site said it does need a fan. It will get hot and throttle or even stop while and since I didn't order the case I ended up for now just placing a 3" fan on it which does the job well enough for testing. Really attaching a fan with thermal paste is the way to go.

Because I only have 4MB disk free I have tried to minimize what apps I've added for testing.  It does show the 8.63GB file from the 24H2 update bug so if that is a true number and I will do a lot more playroom.  For now as this shot shows https://imgur.com/a/8Pd6WXS  NextPVR will capture and play 1080i on a local client without issue for speed, memory or temperature.  When I tried the same channel streaming to a remote web client the numbers were only slightly higher https://imgur.com/a/g4dfpjm with ffmpeg doing h/w decoding.  This is something how SBC can do, not even the RPi5

On the same box I am also able to PXE boot LibreELEC and the server and client use much less resources.  At the same time Windows will support USB tuners that you can't run on Linux.  Network bootting is great the 2.5 GB NIC works well but it might even be better running from emmc or M2 SSD.

Bottom line it is fun to play with and I was surprised Win11 worked as well as it did but I think it might be worth spending the money to get the same Intel N100 in a NUC.

  Unhighlight recorded shows
Posted by: artmetz - 2024-10-19, 05:05 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Under the general settings, there's a "Highlight 'new' shows" setting.
If it's feasible, I would like to unhighlight shows in the guide I've already recorded.
Maybe a checkbox, light font or banner? (I wouldn't even mind the cell being blank)
Thanks for the great product.

It is far too easy to delete all channels.
Posted by: Paul92 - 2024-10-19, 08:49 AM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (1)

Hi all

First, I want to express my appreciation for the NextPVR platform. It has greatly simplified my workflow, and I enjoy working with it, especially with the level of control it offers for customizing IPTV channels and EPGs.

However, I recently encountered a significant issue that I believe warrants attention. While I was adding a new channel, I accidentally deleted all my channels—over 300 of them. These were carefully curated IPTV channels, and I had manually stitched each channel’s EPG, a process that took years of planning. I’m still unsure what exactly happened, but I suspect a dropped keyboard and a held-down Enter key may have contributed to this.

What concerns me is how easy it was to delete everything at once. All channels in the channel settings seem to be ticked by default, and even after I untick them, they are re-ticked when I make changes. This nearly happened again while I was re-adding the channels. I believe it would be a great improvement to require a confirmation step, like entering the same PIN code used for backend/frontend communication, to prevent accidental deletions.

This is not a rant—I'm offering this suggestion because I’d rather not risk losing all my channels again after investing so much time into configuring them.

I hope this feedback can be considered, and I’d be happy to provide any further information or clarification if needed. Thank you for continuing to develop such a powerful tool.

How to add a new channel without having them all chosen when updating a device?
Posted by: Luisy44 - 2024-10-18, 01:44 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (3)

I already have an IPTV device imported but I didn't select all the channels that it has. There's a specific channel that I want to add but when I try to update it's channels in the "Devices" section in Settings, it will automatically select all of the channels it has. What I would like is just to chose the new channel that I want without having to deselect and select all of the other channels that it had before. Can that be possible?

  NextPVR and Android 10
Posted by: charlyms - 2024-10-17, 10:10 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (7)

I got a new Android TV Box with Android 10. As far I understand, I have installed NextPVR 21.20 on Kodi 21.10. but not successfully. This app has a cross checkmark in contrast to IPTV Simple Client.
What can be wrong, maybe android is too old?

  Win TV Dual HD tuner
Posted by: RichRail - 2024-10-15, 04:08 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (4)

Hi Everyone
I'm very much new to this so please excuse the question if I'm a dummy!
I have a Hauppauge WinTV Dual HD plugged in to my Windows 11 PC.
Next PVR is setup and working.
I have scanned and saved each tuner and updated both with the relevant EPG and saved.
However when I go into TV Guide I get all of the correct information for the 1st tuner OK
Underneath each channel I assume I get the other tuner information but only see "No Listings" for every channel, no programme info.
I'm sure I should be seeing the programme data duplicated for 2nd tuner?
Hope this makes sense and any assistance much appreciated.
Rich

Question Always stops working after some time (2)
Posted by: calande - 2024-10-15, 10:17 AM - Forum: Docker arm32v7 - Replies (8)

Hello,

I was reading the forum messages, and it seems I have the same problem as this user. I scheduled weekly recordings that are supposed to last 2h, but they actually last no more than 5 minutes. I always end up throwing them away, I only have the commercials at the beginning of the TV program, the TV program itself doesn't even begin when the recording is aborted. Here is the section of the log file that I think is relevant, although I don't understand much. From my understanding the NAS receives 200MB of data every ten seconds? This is huge... How is it possible, to begin with? (it's a simple 1080i h.264 TV stream...).

More info: I'm using v.6.1.5.231022, in a Docker image, on a QNAP TS-131P NAS (arm32). I have plenty of free space on this NAS.
I have restarted Docker several times, with no improvements.
I am able to record from my computer using the same Ethernet DVB-T tuner for hours trouble-free using DVBViewer (a separate Windows application).
Do you know what may be aborting my recordings?
Thank you!

Note: I'm getting an error message on the forum reporting too many MySQL connections.
