  Newbie problems
Posted by: BenMic - 2016-02-21, 05:39 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (10)

I'm running a HomeRun3 twin-tuner with Windows 10.

I have installed NPVR but am having problems with:

1. When I go to scan my two DVB-T tuners, they only pick up approx. half of the available FreeToAir channels in my area. One picks up 6 channels, the other picks up 16, including the perviously mentioned six.; and,

2. If I try watch Live TV on NPVR I have no picture. I checked the Decoders, but the MPEG2 Video Decoder is disabled, with no alternative. The H.264 Video Decoder has automatically set itself to the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder.

  USB Dual tuner and more
Posted by: jad3675 - 2016-02-21, 04:06 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Interesting situation here. I ran WMC for years with two AverMedia H837 usb tuners - which I thought were single tuners. MCE only allowed me to record 1 channel on each tuner - two total. For the past 6 months I've been using NPVR and Kodi as a replacement for MCE. One of my AverMedia USB tuners died, so I replaced it with a Hauppauge Dual Channel USB tuner. A slight upgrade, now I'd be able to record 3 shows at once. Or so I thought...until I was testing out the configuration and managed to record 8 shows at once. Well, it appears my AverMedia USB tuner is really two tuners, which when added to the Hauppauge tuner should make 4 tuners. So, how did I manage 8 recordings? I think I have an idea - it appears you record a channel and it's sub-channels (ie, 5, 5.1 and 5.2) and NPVR somehow treats it as one tunner/channel. Is this right?

NMT for New TV - Suggestions
Posted by: ww4397 - 2016-02-20, 07:39 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (8)

We're looking to add a TV in the house and will need an NMT to go with it. We're not sure what to buy. We currently have two PCH A100's in use with two TVs and want the same kind of capability on the new TV.

What hardware are folks buying now? We haven't needed to buy any clients since we purchased the A100s years ago.

Thanks!

  PlayOn - won't fast forward
Posted by: DStorkamp - 2016-02-20, 07:24 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Hi all,

I managed to get PlayOn set up on my Roku, and adjusted it to read my local NPVR folder, and I can now stream my recordings to my Roku. But whenever I fast forward via my Roku (using PlayOn app), the streaming pauses for a minute, and then it jumps out of play mode to where I can select a show to watch. Has anyone else had trouble fast forwarding in this way?

  Missing BBC EPG listing
Posted by: liteswap - 2016-02-20, 04:47 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Hi

Any Brits here missing programme listings for BBC2 / BBC2 HD? I'm using Alan Birtles' XMLTV grabber.

They've gone walkabout here, even though nothing in my configuration has changed with respect to grabbing on the PVR for literally years.

  Stopped recording as of 2/10/2016
Posted by: DStorkamp - 2016-02-20, 12:44 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

All recording stopped on my NextPVR as of 2/10/2016. There are a bunch of Pending recordings from 2/10 and since (today is 2/20), but I don't see how to update/refresh and get things started again.

I am posting my event log in the hope somebody can help me get recordings started again.

Thank you!

Darren

Bit of a Windows 10 rant - but a serious question and issue
Posted by: tundrwd - 2016-02-19, 02:52 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (19)

I got a pretty cheap Windows box (refurb) for the express purpose of making it a headless PVR for the family. This is a Win10 box (had similar issues with Win7 using Media Center). Note the two key words, "headless" and "family".

My issue is that no matter what I do - I am confronted with passwords. Is there no way to escape the infernal password issue? It's for the FAMILY - it's HEADLESS, no USB keyboard/mouse, anyone can, and SHOULD be able to access it. While I've gotten MOST of the password issues out of the way, it still crops up from time-to-time.

I also use Remote Desktop (Win10 Pro), to access it, and this is one major source of issue - since it logs the login "out", so you can access remotely, and then requires a password when you go back to it. It still occasionally requires a password after reboot.

So - what have others done to resolve this issue - permanently so they can use their device as a PVR/headless device for NextPVR?

I will add - NextPVR may not be the sexiest software I've seen/used - but it's functional and after a month of use - seems pretty doggone reliable. Kudos to the devs.

the tuner you were using was required...message
Posted by: DrBoost - 2016-02-19, 12:15 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (34)

I'm hoping someone here can help me resolve this. I've searched quite a bit and it seems I need someone to look at the log to figure out the issue here.
I'm running NPVR on a Windows 7 64bit machine.
At least 1/2 the time I try to change channels I get the message indicated. every time, I hit OK, then Live TV and it goes right to the channel I was switching to. So the tuner is switching the channel, it's just not being outputted?
Anyway, here's a log. the problem happened about 6:51 or so.

I don't see if there is an attachment. I hope so.

And thank you all very much in advance.

  Setting padding times in Kodi
Posted by: Retro Greaser - 2016-02-19, 12:01 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I'm currently evaluating NextPVR 3.6.6 as a TV server in combination with Kodi 15.2 via the Kodi Addon NextPVR PVR Client v1.10.8 by Graeme Blackley on a Win7 system.

So far it works well. However, I can't manage to get the padding times set in Kodi for TV recordings. I've set the pre- and post-padding times in NextPVR to 0 minutes. Whatever padding time I set in Kodi when configuring a recording timer, the recording always starts and ends at the exact start and end time of the show (0 min padding). The padding times I set in Kodi seem to be ignored.

Any ideas?

  Isengard 15.2 and Subchannels
Posted by: ThaDoctor - 2016-02-18, 10:54 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (2)

I've tried my best to search the forums for this answer, but either I'm not using the right words (atsc subchannel kodi), or the posts I found were outdated, so here's my question for 2016:

Does or does not Kodi 15.2 support sub-channel tuning using an ATSC digital tuner (in USA) with the NextPVR plugin? Specifically, I'm running Kodibuntu 14.04 LTS with the 15.2 Isengard release.
It doesn't seem to accept "." or "-", so I didn't know if that was a limitation of the frontend, or the addon. My NextPVR backend is Windows 10 LTSB on an old school XPS 420.

(I seem to remember sub posting YEARS ago that he had fixed the addon and was waiting for (then) XMBC to merge it)

BTW, since updating to 3.6.6 backend, all the channels all look great, and the recording feature works like a charm, and even names episodes correctly, if I can ever get a $^*@ing EPG update from the antenna.
