Is there a way to use an LCD or VFD (2x16 or 4x40 chars) in NPVR

I want to see the actions made by NPVR whitout to start my TV.

So it would be fine to see the recording that was ongoing, or see how many tuners are used....

Thanks and Regards tto

Analog Picture Shaking With New Card
Posted by: T5740 - 2016-02-10, 06:29 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (17)

I run my NPVR setup on a small atom powered HP T5740 thin client and for years it has worked great. Up until this week I have run it off of a full sized mini pcie avermedia tuner card sitting sort of half way into a half height slot. You had to position it just right but it would work fine and all of my analog channels came in fine and my HD ATSC channels worked fine as well. Well I got a expansion module this week that allows me to put a full size PCI/PCIE card into the little thin client so I decided to swap out my old avermedia mini pcie card to a ATI TV Wonder HD 650 PCI card. I swapped everything over and installed the ATI drivers and NPVR saw the card with the ATSC/QAM/Analog tuners just fine. I then selected the tuners and told it to copy the channel configs from the old avermedia card and that worked just fine as well. Now here is where my problem lies. I can tune all of the analog channels just fine but they come up on the screen very shaky from the top to the bottom and the picture itself seems to be lower on the screen with the bottom ticket on channels like cnn cut in half and a white line of nothing at the top of the screen. The audio is even sort of distorted to by in sync with the shaking. I tried every video renderer and decoder combination there is but nothing changes. I think the little thin client does render stuff video software because NPVR doesn't think the hardware is strong enough to do it even though I can play 1080p files just fine in Kodi with the stock Intel GL40 graphics. I was really hoping a full sized pci card would be better but it looks like it might be worse than my little mini pcie avermedia card? I will attach a log file and any help you guys can provide would be much appreciated.

I've incurred a problem with server database npvr and am having a problem changing \\cp-pc\npvr\npvr.db3 back to \\hushpc\npvr\npvr.db3. Please give me some new direction. I just installed this software and was setting up the Live TV when I caused the problem. I also received an error message 0x80070005.

  Cannot edit/save timer via Kodi 16.0 RC3
Posted by: gnuru - 2016-02-10, 12:28 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (19)

I installed Kodi 16 RC3 (I was using RC2) and now I cannot set or edit timers with NextPVR 3.6.6 backend.
When I try to edit/save a timer (such as change the pad or days of week of the timer),
I get an "an unexpected error occurred" dialog which tells me to look in the log.
I turn on debug logging in Kodi and restarted and tried again. I got the same error.
I can create new timers OK from the Guide by selecting to record the show.

Log at http://xbmclogs.com/pgszsorha

System is Win 10, on an HP desktop with 6GB RAM, about 200GB disk space free,

Setting recordings directly in NextPVR works fine.

This was originally posted in the Kodi forums at http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=259073 and I was asked to post it on the NextPVR forums.

New user - looking for WMC replacement
Posted by: Gerryex3 - 2016-02-09, 11:49 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (17)

Hi ALL,

I have a Hauppauge HVR-1250 TV tuner that I have been using to pick up OTA ATSC channels with Win Media Center. Since WMC is gone under Win 10 I'm looking for a replacement and while I know I'll never be able to get an exact replacement NextPVR looks pretty good. But I'm having some difficulties. I installed it and it is working with the TV tuner and did find all the local channels and does show them in Live TV. But I'm having trouble with the guide. It initially came up but with no data. Playing around I determined that the guide data defaults to come in from the ATSC signals. Unfortunately a couple of my local channels have not been displaying that data for a long time. In the Settings for Channels I would click on Update EPG and it would always start with the physical channel that doesn't have any data and time out. I managed to find the setting to change the EPG source while watching a live channel and tried the setting for XMLTV even though I don't have a file. Obviously that didn't work but even though I set it back to getting data from the channel when I click Update EPG in the Channel Settings the program always crashes with a popup that disappears quickly saying something about XMLTV!!!

Is there something I can try to get it to get to not crash or should I uninstall and re-install. Even if I do the latter I'm still not sure how to get the EPG fully populated.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,
Gerry

  Advance time in guide?
Posted by: RTKAT - 2016-02-09, 06:39 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

With my setup for NextPVR I have remote, mouse, and keyboard available. When using the mouse and in the guide, I can use the wheel to move up or down in the guide but can not find a way to move right or increase the time. I have to grab the remote or the keyboard and hit the right arrow. Is there something with the mouse that I have not found to move right in the guide?

  EPG Update
Posted by: jcole998 - 2016-02-09, 04:34 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (19)

I was looking through the NRecord.log file and noticed that it's taking about 20 of the 26-minute update time just to delete old listings. Is this normal? Is there no faster way to delete rows from the database? My update consists of a 14-day look ahead period. I'm just concerned that for that length of time, the update is exposed to any manner of system glitch that could corrupt the database. (and I'm curious)

Thanks for the help.

Deleted tuners and now they wont come back
Posted by: jaygebee - 2016-02-09, 05:13 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hello,

I was setting up nextdvr for the first time and messed up in my tuner section. I deleted them hoping to start from scratch and now I cannot get them back. I am running the HDHomeRun Connect HDHR4-2US tuner for ATSC broadcast. I have tried restarting the program, disconnecting and reconnecting the tuner, adding and removing the tuner under devices on the pc, uninstalling and reinstalling nextpvr, rebooting the computer etc... I feel like I have tried everything. I need help!

I attached my log of me opening the settings and then devices.

Live TV buffer files not deleting
Posted by: Ashjg - 2016-02-08, 10:12 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (2)

I guess this is the same issue that got reported over on the Kodi forum, http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=258533

When I originally saw the above forum post, I had a quick look at the location where my live TV is stored and was relieved to see that it was empty and I wasn't having the same issue!!!

However!!! This morning I get a phone call from a rather disgruntled wife! Saying she can't watch TV, returning from work, I have a look and eventually I narrow it down ... My Live TV drive is rammed to the hilt with .ts files.... I delete them, and run a couple of tests and everything works as expected e.g Live TV creates a .ts file which grows as the live TV runs and then deletes after the stream is stopped...

I've added a line to the postepgupdate.bat file that deletes all *.ts files I the liveTV folder, which I guess should stop this happening in the future...

I'm not sure how these files got there, very bizarre ! But I'd thought I'll report this just in case others come across the same issue...
