Recordings doesn't use same channel tuners
Posted by: Handy.Man - 2016-01-30, 07:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (54)

I had 3 recording in progress
CH2 : Ti-Mé Show 20:00-21:00
CH6 : MarketPlace 20:00-20:30
CH 35: SQ 20:00-20:30 1 min post padding
CH 35: 911 20:30-21:30 1 min post padding

Go to TV Guide around 20:28, I changed 911 to 1 min pre padding
Recording didn't start and looking at the status windows on the client didn't seems show SQ as recording
Change prepading of 911 to 2 min didn't start the recording

I cancel Marketplace and 911 started recording on another tuner then SQ
... but now the status window is displaying SQ as recording !!!!
The SQ recording was completed with 1 min padding, maybe it was still present in status windows, or didn't refresh at some point.

Looking at the log it seems that Nrecord was in a loop trying to find a tuner for 911 ... as if it didn't see it was the same channel as SQ !

  NextPVR on Linux?
Posted by: christheman - 2016-01-29, 06:14 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

Hi, with the advent of Windows 10 and its subscription model, and all the Windows malware (disguised as patches or "Security Updates") in Win 7 and Win 8 to upgrade to Win 10, I am moving as many of my machines as I can away from Windows XP and to Linux Mint. It is most similar to Ubuntu, with some Debian capability, and a heavy emphasis on a friendly user interface.

I am a Linux newb, but have been on a learning curve. I am currently using Oracle VirtualBox (contained in Mint repository) and Crossover (a more polished paid product from the developers of free Wine).

So the big question. Has anyone loaded the NextPVR onto Wine, Crossover, or an XP VirtualBox running within Linux? All are options. Also there are two different versions of the OS which I could use for that machine - x86 and x64. The switch to Linux for the host OS would mainly be to stay current on best practices and updates with an OS of my preference.

I would keep the XP machine running as long as I needed to, while I set up the Linux machine next to it. Also I am using a Hauppauge HD-PVR2 as the encoder and wish to keep it.

Thanks

NPVR Settings keep adding Clients in Client Tab
Posted by: jksmurf - 2016-01-29, 02:13 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (10)

As I've been testing X-NEWA/Kodi on a RPi2 as well as added Kodi to my desktop, the client tab has automatically added the MAC Addresses (Local if Local) to the list of devices in the Clients Tab of the settings menu.

All well and good, BUT it seems like it keeps auto-adding the same Kodi devices, multiple times.
I keep deleting them out of the list but they seem to keep getting added . It's like groundhog day.
I think it happens when I turn off the devices and restart the, but why if they are already listed, are they re-added?

Any ideas?

NEXTPVR not working properly since upgrade to windows 10
Posted by: Rainbowserpant - 2016-01-29, 01:45 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Im not verry pc savy or literate, but I previously had NextPVR working fine as backend and using Kdoi as frontend to watch and more specifically record tv in windows 7.

Since upgrading to windows 10 it seems NextPVR is having issues with not playing channels and generally not responding very well and freezing.

I am using the Sony Play TV box as my tuner with the Eye TV Diversity driver 3.15.00.00 which previously worked perfectly with windows 10.

I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling Next PVR (3.66), uninstalling & reinstalling the tuner hardware & driver, tried different decoders but nothing seems to resolve the issues.

I can occasionally get one or 2 channels clearly, but mostly bad reception and freezing whenever trying to watch a channel.

I have tried deleting all the channels and re-scanning too which hasn't helped (I have noticed with the last scans not all the channels are even being found, only about 13 out of 42?)

I have attempted to attach the log via the instructions, hoping someone can please help?

  Orphaned sources in channels?
Posted by: snagglewest - 2016-01-28, 11:23 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

As others have noted, Cox has decided to go all digital which means I had to disable my USB tuners leaving me only my HDHomeRun Prime cable card tuner. Some of the channels on the USB tuners overlapped the HDHR so I had a couple of channels that showed 5 sources with the rest of the cable card only channels showing 3 sources.

I restarted and emptied the EPG then reloaded but I still see in the "channels" page those channels still show 5 sources. I'm assuming I need to get the old overlapped channels back to 3 sources but I can't figure it out.

I tried searching and the wiki but didn't find anything. Can someone help me out please.

New to the forum and software, have some questions.
Posted by: TechnoJunky - 2016-01-28, 02:26 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I have a HDHomerun 2 tuner ATSC box on my network. The software found it and let me scan it and the first thing I noticed was that the channels all said they were SD, where I was expecting HD on a lot of them. The next problem was when I tried to watch TV live and it flashes some message to the screen so fast that I can't read it, and I don't get any TV. I did create the C:\Temp directory that the first error gave me, that one was a bit easier to read.

I would be willing to donate via paypal if I can get this software to do the job that Microsoft use to do before they took it away in Windows 10.

I own a license for PlayonTV, and while it is very good in many ways, it will not record from my HDHomeRun, and I have a very steady and beautiful picture from a tower mounted high gain yagi. I am a Ham Radio operator and I have a tower next to my home. That makes having a good spot for a TV antenna no problem. I use to use a rotator on the TV antenna, but I found that there is one position that gets the far stations well, and the strong stations I get pointing ion any direction, so it all works out. The coax is RG6 and it goes to a 4 way amplified splitter in the attic, and that feeds 4 TV's, with my HDHomerun being one of them.

I will look more inot the software after I hear back from whatever anyone will tell me from this first post.

I did try to search the forum for HDHomeRUn, but I either did it wrong, or it did not find anything and I did it right.

When I click on Live TV, it now flashes "Please Wait" to the screen and nothing happens.

Thanks for any help with this, Joe

FCC says it will “unlock the set-top box”
Posted by: crossnet - 2016-01-27, 08:39 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

This could be great news for those of us using NPVR in the US. My service is now going over to scrambled digital, so my tuners will become useless. Don't have any options other than renting cable boxes or buying new cable card tuners. Looking at cutting the cord and going to Broadcast and Internet connections. This may be the answer for me.

  Bravo!
Posted by: ejb - 2016-01-27, 04:43 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Just a big thank you to Sub and all that work on this project. I have been using NPVR successfully with 2 HVR-1600s (for OTA) and a HDPVR2 (for a cable STB). I use Comskip to process the recordings and use Kodi as a front-end (but use it to launch NPVR through its Advanced Launcher plug-in because I prefer the NPVR interface). I use the SearchLite plug-in and get my EPG info from Schedules Direct. After using BTV4 for over a decade I have become a NPVR convert.

However, my HVR-1600s were getting quite old and I had started to notice some reception problems with them (even though I have very good signal reception). I became interested in networked tuners and purchased a HDHomerun EXTEND. The installation went without a hitch - NPVR recognized the tuners and I was able to import the HVR-1600's channel lineup over to the HDHomerun quickly and easily. The whole installation took about 20 minutes!

Again to Sub and the team Bravo on excellent work!Big Grin
