I've got an ATI TV WONDER HD 650 pci tuner card. Windows Media Center finds channels just fine, QAM and over the air, however a scan in NextPVR doesn't return any channels. What do I need to do to get my TV tuner up and running? All I did was install nextpvr and go to setup and scanned for channels. Are there patches or extra steps I need to go through for this tuner card? It seems odd that WMC can run it just fine, but nextpvr can't. Please help.
Thanks to the posters on this forum, you guys are great!!
Question about which direction I should go with my system/network setup. Here is what my network consists of. WD mycloud NAS 3tb, gigabit linksys router, hdhr atsc dual tuner, custom built pc (amd 760K, gtx750ti, 3tb along, (2) 1tb and ssd, winodws 8.1 MSI motherboard, starting as something different and has morphed into what I have now). The custom built pc has the npvr software and dumping files to nas/internal 3tb. Custom pc is used for light to medium gaming duties along with dvr duties...
Here is what I would like to do: use the custom pc as npvr server for kodi on tv attached to custom pc as well as act as a server for the additional 2 tvs in the house that aren't already connected for DVR purposes (considering raspberri pi 2's.)
My dillema stems from my msi motherboard (biggest question here) The only way I can have NPVR wakeup and suspend the pc is by setting wake up events on my MB to OS. This works great however it doesn't let me use WOL or wake via USB (rc6 mce remote). (greyed out in the windows software) If I use Bios setting for wake up events, I can use wol and wake via usb but than NPVR is unable to wake the pc for recordings. If I switch to a different motherboard can I get both of these working perfectly to do both? Is it even possible? Or do I need another windows pc to handle recording duty only?
I would like to spend the least amount of money on this as possible as I would need another hdhr and the cost of 2 raspberri pi's to make it work perfectly.
Looking for a setup guide for ScheduleDirect. Looked in Wiki under EPG but there were only two choices: OTA and XMLTV. Nothing in Walkthroughs either. Is there one?
Trying my PhotoFilter plugin in the (X-Newa) web client I have run into a few issues.
I use a separate thread to load the photo "grid" so I can show a "Loading" message since it might take a while. This is taking a much longer time in the web client only when using a separate thread. For example, loading and displaying 40 photos using the separate thread takes around 1 second in NPVR on the PC but in the web client it takes around 8 seconds. If I modify the plugin to not use a separate thread, the web client loads and displays in about 1 second as expected. Any idea why the delay in the web client only with a separate thread?
The other problem is when I'm displaying a photo full screen, the date/time is not being obscured in the web client like it is on the PC. I am using the "block-extras" UIElement.
With a single-tuner DVB-T2 decoder, should NPVR be able to schedule two simultaneous recordings on different channels which are on the same multiplex? I imagine it's possible because there's a page under Recordings for Conflicts, for the case where the programmes are on different muxes and therefore need different tuners.
I get an Unhandled Exception "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error if I try to set up a Quick Record or when pressing OK on a normal Record if another recording is scheduled for an overlapping time, which sounds like something isn't failing gracefully :-)
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Looking at the manual http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Manual.NTray it seems that the "n" icon in the system tray should do something - probably it should have a right-click option to bring up a menu with Status, Start N-PVR, Restart Service. However on my Win 7 PC it does not respond to any actions (left-click, right-click, double-click) although the icon does appear when the PC is rebooted, so it's being auto-started.
Is there something I've done wrong during installation? Is there a log file which would give a reason why the status icon is having no effect?
It would be nice if the icon at least changed colour to a red disc when a recording is being made and then displayed a tooltip confirming the name of the programme being recorded - like Windows Media Centre does. Maybe this is how it is supposed to behave...
I've installed Next PVR 3.5.7 on Window 7. I live in the UK.
I have two tuners, one DVB-T only (made by Hauppauge) and one DVB-T/T2 (made by PCTV). With either one or the other of these devices plugged in (but not with both plugged in at the same time) I've done a scan, having defined the country and transmitter.
As far as I can see, all the expected channels are being found - obviously the DVB-T/T2 decoder finds more channels because it can see the HD channels.
But it seems as if the list of channels has some LCNs allocated at random, instead of using the standard LCNs that are published in listings magazines etc (and which Windows Media Centre uses). Some channel numbers are duplicated (ie two different channels, as identified by name, have the same channel number), and a few (eg Talking Pictures TV) have the wrong LCN (132 instead of 81 which it should be).
I could go through and edit all the LCNs, but this would be very tedious and may well get reset if I re-scan at some stage.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
I've attached an XML file (zipped) of the channel list Settings | Devices | (select the tuner) | Export Channels. Duplication occurs at 61 (both Spike and True Entertainment), 62 (BT Showcase and ITV4+1), 66 (CITV and CBS Reality), 101 (BBC One HD and Gems TV) etc. The correct list of LCNs is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_di...s_%28UK%29.
Record something with NPVR and look in C:/users/public/public videos and the recording will be there in a sub folder with its name. Go record something with a different device and make a folder in the same place and copy the new video there.
Now when you run NPVR and look at menu item "recordings" what was recorded with NPVR shows but not what you copied there from another drive. You have to go to "videos" and through the different folders to get to the show recorded somewhere else. So what does NPVR do to tell it where what it recorded is located? Can something be done to the other recording to make it show up under "recordings?" It would be less work than having to run through all the other folders to get to the recording done some where else.
