Not allowing multiple connections to tuners
Posted by: jcfaber1 - 2016-01-02, 02:51 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

I have Extended and Prime tuners on my network. I have 2 pc's with Tv's running Kodi/NextPVR. If one pc is watching a channel on one tuner all is well. When the other pc goes to watch a channel on either tuner, the other pc gets kicked off with a NextPVR tuner connection is lost message. Any ideas how many fix this problem? Many thanks.

No EPG or channels, using Quad TBS 6284 DVB-T2 Freeview tuner card (PCI)
Posted by: huntjules - 2016-01-02, 12:15 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hello,

I'm moving off WMC (WMC deactivated from the pc) I have a Win7 Headless PC (4Gb RAM & i5), running over gbe cabled LAN, Win7 is running Plex and also trying to install NXTPVR, pushing content to Samsung smart TV's. Plex works ace (I upgraded / pay for Plex Pass to support their work). I intend to do the same with NextPVR when I have working well.

But, even though TBS tuners say enabled (Quad TBS 6284 DVB-T2) unfortunately when I scan for channels in the PC NEXTPVR interface, nothing happens. I've updated location for devices/tuners with UK / London Crystal Palace (from drop down menu), but none of the 4 tuners picks up any channel, I've tried a few scans, but they complete and no data (WMC worked fine with the TBS tuner card). I'm a newbie to NEXT-PVR, so would appreciate any guidance please? (I've attached logs with this thread)

Cheers, Julian

Could not open NextPVR on 192.168.1.X
Posted by: jcjefferies - 2016-01-01, 11:54 PM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (7)

Martin

Because of problems with Windows 8 on my NextPVR server I setup a temporary server while I did a clean install on the original server. This new server worked with X-NEWA clients almost immediately but for some unknown reason the X-NEWA clients wont work with either the new Vista or Windows 8.1 install disks in the original server. The original boot disk which was working ok last week now has the same problem.

If the server is sleeping WOL wakes it then the "Could not open NextPVR..." message is displayed. If the server is already up when the client starts the message appears immediately X-NEWA starts.

Using it with or without password protected sharing makes no difference. I assume that its npvr.db3 which is being accesses but the KODI file manager seems to have full Read and Write access to the NPVR directory on the new installs. On the working server "Everyone" has Read/Execute permissions on the database but on the other server installs "Everyone" has Full access.

Clutching at straws now but the only common factor with the three NextPVR install disks with this problem is that they have all been in my HP server which had a BIOS upgrade yesterday to cure a network interface problem which prevented upgrade from Windows 8 to 8.1 and no network connection in Windows 8.1 and 10!!!

Any suggestions Martin what else I can try?

Chris

Change channel from both Kodi clients
Posted by: paulofcorinth - 2016-01-01, 05:33 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

The setup:

In the living room I have a Hauppage HVR-1250 installed on my HTPC. My coaxial input goes from the wall to the DirectTV cable box and RCAs have been ran from the cable box to the HVR-1250. I have my TV connected to the HTPC via an HDMI cable. On the HTPV I have NextPVR 3.66 as the back end and Kodi 15.2 Isenguard as the front end. Things work great! I can Watch live TV as well as record. I can watch the recorded TV shows as well no problem. Again, it all works perfectly.

The problem:

Since this was going great I setup an unused laptop up in the bedroom and installed Kodi 15.2. It connected to NextPVR just fine and I can watch and record live TV. The problem arises when the living room TV has live TV playing and I go upstairs on the other client to change the channel. I get the error "Tuner not available". I am guessing it is because only one client can have control of the tuner at a time. If I change the channel upstairs to match the downstairs it works but still won't let me change it to a different channel. If I press stop on the live TV downstairs the upstairs client can then start changing the channel. This also happens if the situation is reversed.

The Question:

Is there a way for one client to "relinquish control" of the tuner once another attempts to "gain control" or would this require a second tuner? I tried turning off the time shifting feature on both clients but that did not help. I tried googling quite a bit but could not find the answer. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

  npvr as client; Database share?
Posted by: donbrew - 2015-12-31, 10:39 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I must be overthinking or overlooking!

When setting up a client on a Windows 10 network; I am at settings>Devices, I have entered the IP for the server; what form do I use for the database share?

I've tried c:\Users\Public\NPVR and several other forms.

I seem to be too dumb to figure this out and the wiki seems to think everybody knows.

Thank you for supporting KODI (and a quick question)
Posted by: KS4UA - 2015-12-31, 09:45 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (2)

THANK YOU for adding the PVR support in KODI.

I now have NPVR working again on my old Windows server (see SIG for confiuration).

I am using OPENELEC KODI on an Acer Revo 1600 as a client....works GREAT for playing back HD files and I can now watch live TV too (thanks to sub and NPVR).

HOwever, not all of the EPG is being displayed on KODI, only certain channels. On the Windows NPVR server, all the channel stuff is there, but not on the client.

Is this a know problem?

Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

  Setting tuner priorities?
Posted by: jfabernathy - 2015-12-31, 08:39 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

The first devices I added were the HDHomeRun tuners (1 box). got it working, but then I added a Hauppauge HVR2250 card and got it working, but I noticed that it put it at the first device listed, with the HDHomeRun below. I used the priority button to move the Hauppauge down in the list because I knew from Mythtv testing that the HDHomeRun had better signal sensitivity.

So now my list starts with the HDHomeRun and then has the Hauppauge below. So can I assume NextPVR will use my HDHomeRun before it uses the Hauppauge??

Second question is about displaying the signal strength of a particular tuner while on a channel. Can it be done in NextPVR?
Can I display which tuner is being use for which recording or livetv?

  NextPVR 3.6.6 decoder selection broken?
Posted by: ran - 2015-12-31, 03:44 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Just upgraded to Windows 10, missing Media Center with my TV Tuner card (ATI 650 PCI) so I am testing NextPVR.

- Installed drivers for TV Tuner (ATI Unified)
- Installed NextPVR
- NextPVR recognized TV Tuner, scanned ATSC (OTA stations) and found them.
- Installed Zap2XML and wrote little .bat file for NextPVR to get EPG udpates - worked fine.
- No live TV due to lack of MPEG2 decoder.

I have Cyberlink Powerdirector 11, and thought their decoders could be used (clm2vdec.dll). However, NextPVR does not "see" them on my system, nor do the little "3-dot" browse buttons in NextPVR Settings -> Decoders work for actually selecting anything. I even tried copying the clm2vdec.dll file to NextPVR's directory, but that didn't work.

So, how can I get NextPVR to recognize Cyberlink's MPEG2 decoders? Will this decoder work with NextPVR?

Thanks,
Ran

Windows 10: Intermittent Recording Failure: UK TV Shows
Posted by: jamestm - 2015-12-31, 10:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

Thank you for the NextPVR software and the friendly community.

I have an issue where I try and record a TV show only for the recording to record either the prior last few minutes of the previous show or perhaps the first 10 minutes of target show and then stop. The recording apparently continues until the end, but the file that is produced (only includes the first few minutes). I find this issues arise about 1 in 3 times but I am unsure as to the cause or how to fix the issue. If anyone could assist, thank you.
