johnsonx42 Wrote:why do we go through this so often? seems like 5 times a week we spend a day-and-a-half convincing a new user (and sometimes not so new) to post logs, not just one log, not just the couple of logs he thinks are the right ones, but the whole logs folder, and no, not with 7-zip or winrar, those skip the current logs. posting the whole thing is easiest, just right-click, the Send To->Compressed (Zipped) Folder... why do we have to spend so much time arguing about it?
My googling suggests that vBulletin allows customising of the email that is sent as part of the forum registration process. May I suggest ...

Please zip and attach logs to support posts. Please use Windows Explorer / File Explorer and right click on the Logs folder and select Send To ... Compressed Folder to zip the logs folder. Attach the zip file to your post using the paperclip button when you create a new thread. Further information including the location of logs is at ... http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post480931
Please tell us the date and time that we can look for in the logs. For example, a show that failed to record on January 28 at 21.00 or a Settings problem today at 11.30.
May I also suggest a couple of bells and whistles that might assist.
Pressing the Red button (or Alt-R) could add a line to all logs that says "Red button pressed" ... I can then press the Red button when I see a problem (tuner not listed in Devices, for example). Might sometimes a assist when searching logs.
It appears that an "API call" (whoever he is) to zip a folder is available in Windows so we might have a button on the Settings --> General screen to zip the logs folder and put the zip file in the Documents folder where it is easy to find.
Plus, we might also have a "Restart NextPVR" button on the Settings --> General screen to restart npvr.exe, nrecord.exe and to stop all ndigitlhost processes forcing all logs to be restarted (among other "reset" type actions).
I have carefully calculated the amount of work required to implement all this and it is zero ... for me.
I was scanning thru my NRecord.log file and noticed for the last several nights an error popping up at the end of the EPG update. NextPVR attempts to tune to some channel (vchannel 7) and set target, then dumps dozens of exceptions for 1 minute as seen below. It then attempts to do the same thing for vchannel 10, with the same result. Then again.. and again..
I'm guessing maybe the process is trying to pull some EPG data from the HDHR channels? I've attached the full log.
I don't really see anything wrong in the UI, so maybe this can be ignored...

I have a problem with duplicate recordings which show up at random for various recording schedules. The recordings, all copies, are all made successfully and labelled -0, -1, -2 etc., - sometimes as many as 10 copies! This started when NPVR was transferred to an SSD but this may not be related.
There are three examples shown on the schedule screen grabs (Pending & Pending2). Also included is the relevant XML file in which I cannot see duplicates as well as the NPVR log where they can be seen. Can someone help?
As of today, I am unable to choose series recording in Kodi. I had no problem in the past, now I cannot do it. I deleted all my timers, rebooted my PC, made sure to delete all series recordings out of NPVR in the backend, and it simply will not let me choose the Season recording options. I just get "unexpected error" in Kodi
If I go to NPVR in the backend, I can choose series recording. If I choose Record Once in Kodi, it sets it up as a pending recording in NPVR backend. If I go into the NPVR backend and try to manipulate the recording to Update it to a series recording, the options are not even there. it is like it is stuck on Record Once with no options. I have been dealing with this for 3 hours now and nothing that I seem to try works.
Recently, while watching LiveTV on certain channels, I have been experiencing intermittent LiveTV freezes, stutters and audio/video sync issues on various clients. Looking at the logs, I see this error - "Unexpected rolling file seek error". What could cause these errors and are they contributing to my viewing woes?
I have two MPEG2 decoders available and neither gives me TV video: ffdshow and LAV. I tried looking for another MPEG2 decoder for win8.1 but I'm new to decoders and not sure what's likely to work. I can get video with the HDHomeRun software, so somehow TV is available on my machine, but I'd like to use NextPVR for recording, if I can get it to work. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
After doing a channel scan in nextpvr, I am missing ABC. the channel # should be 24.1, 24.2, 24.3. It is detected with my tuner in windows media center, and comes in crystal clear through the TV itself. I am new to nextpvr, and am hoping to use it to help me migrate away from media center. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I'm using Hauppauge USB tuners and running windows 10. I set it up on another machine running win8 and it doesn't find the missing channel there either.
I got a DVBSky T680C DVB-T2 tuner with CI slot.
I installed the driver from the DVBSky website on my Windows 10 machine and everything went smoothly. I could watch my channels including the encrypted ones.
Then i tried to do the same on my server which is running Windows Server 2012 R2.
The device is listed in the device manager in Windows. But it wont show on the devices tab in NextPVR.
It's a fresh install of Server 2012 R2.
Any good suggestions?
When i plug it back into my Windows 10 machine it works again.
I use the same driver on both machines.
I'm getting my computer ready to move to Windows 10, so I'm trying to set up NextPVR so that it works with all of the stations I receive. However, there are 4 stations that will not pull data into the guide, and since they are many of the local broadcast affiliates, I'd like to get those working.
They are:
NBC (Guide Number 36.1, Channel Number 46.5, KMIRDT),
another NBC channel (Guide Number 36.2, Channel Number 46.4, MOVIES or KMIRDT2)
ABC (Guide Number 42.1, Channel Number 42.3, KESQDT3 or KESQDT), and
CBS channel (Guide Number 42.10, Channel Number 42.2, LCLCBS2 or KESQD10)
There are other channels with this problem, but these are the only ones I care about. I am able to pull in the listings through Schedules Direct for the local Fox channel and some other channels. For some of the PBS stations I am pulling in from further away, I use an alternate Schedules Direct lineup, and do the same for the METV channel.
I can tune all of these when I am in the setup version of HDHomeRun, which I only use for my antenna, not for cable or satellite. In NextPVR, I can watch the NBC and ABC channels but not the 2nd NBC or the CBS channels when I click on their empty listing.
I checked on the Schedules Direct side of things. I was able to click a link that showed what my lineup would pull into listings, and the missing shows and channels were there. If I understand correctly, NextPVR uses JSON and doesn't work that way, but I thought this could prove that the problem lies somewhere in how I have NextPVR set up.
As you might be able to tell, I am relatively new at this, so please write your responses towards a newbie. I've attached the logs and am willing to provide other info that might be required. I've searched for the solution to this problem for the past couple of days, but can't find an answer that works. I've emptied the channels and the EPG, and tried different nearby zip codes and even cable providers from Schedules Direct to map the channels, and none of it has been successful.
