This is not a GBPVR problem per se but I thought I'd ask if anyone had seen this. I just bought a PVR500MCE to add two additional tuners to the 2 PVR150MCE cards in my system.

But the machine will not boot with it installed and it hangs after the BIOS display. I tried removing one of the 150 card to see if that might help but it didn't. I tried it in another machine and that machine booted fine.

Anyone have any ideas?
ASUS A7V880, Athlon XP 3000+, 1024MB, 250GB (Prog/DB), 40GB (Buffer/Temp), 670GB SATA (Video Library), PVR150MCE Video (2), NEC DVD+/- RW, Liteon DVD, nVidia FX5600 AGP, Onboard AC 97 Audio, Hauppauge Remote, Girder, USBUIRT,802.11G WLAN, nVidia Platinum Decoders

I had similar issues when I installed MCE500 card.

#At first the PC would not detect the card at all.

I removed the card and gave the gold fingers a gentle clean with a VERY mild abrasive. Card was detected and worked thereafter. Suspect the gold fingers had been coated with a preservative.

The Southbridge on your mobo is a VIA VT8237 see this thread...

Then see one of my later posts in the same thread...

If you have a PCI graphics card lying around, pull out the AGP card and put the PCI card in. I may be wrong but I think your machine will boot up OK.

Hmmmm this does not sound good. I REALLY don't want to change MB again and it doesn't look like the BIOS update makes any difference. I may have to go back to sleep for a while and stay with two capture sources.

Yeah, sorry to be the bringer of bad news.

Some people on the thread claim they successfully persuaded Hauppauge to swap the 500 for 2x 150 cards - you could always consider that. I used a crappy old PCI graphics card for a while (I use an MVP for playback etc.). Even then the system was unstable (recordings on the 500 crashing fairly often). Changing the mobo was a difficult decision (hassle and expense) but I'm glad I did.

I have two 150MCE cards I'd be willing to swap for a 500MCE. My system is a bit slot-challenged and that would free up one so I could add my Fusion card to it.
