Right now I have one pvr150 card and GBPVR uses its IR blaster to control my dish network receiver. I have a second dish network receiver that I would like to control so I was planning on buying another pvr150. Will this work? Can GBPVR differentiate between the two IR blaster and use them independently? Or should I buy a 150MCE and a standalone IR blaster.

BTW, the remote isn't a big deal because I plan on using an MVP for my second room.

The Hauppauge software only allows one PVR150's IR Blaster to function.

Although only one PVR-150 can activly use IR at a time, you can establish discrete IR codes for each reciever. After editing the IR codes and setting up the other remote function in the dish box, it should work. Codes beamed at both will only be recognized if the reciever is established to receive that code set.

So if I were to program the seperate codes in, does GBPVR have the funtionality to handle using these 2 different codes through the same IR blaster? I don't see any settings when I chose Hauppauge IR blaster in the source setup.

Using the PVR 150s to control 2 external set top boxes may work as described above. I just like you could not imagine how to do it.

One possible solution is to look into winlirc to see if you can build your own serial ir blaster and control the second receiver using that method. There is other software like this. Just search the forums.

The second solution that I'm using is switch to DirecTV. Just try to make sure that you get receivers that have a low speed data port in the back (sometime referred to as a home control port). You can then build a simple serial cable to control the receiver. One the wiki page is a program that will allow you to do this. The wiki also has instructions on how to build the cable.

The direcTV solution is what I am using right now (I started with direcTV) with 3 pvr 150s.

My suggestion is don't buy a second pvr 150. Look at getting a second pvr 150mce with the FM radio tuner or a pvr 500 with two tuner built into one card. The big selling point for the pvr 150 was the ir blaster but if you can't use more than one then what is the point. Hauppauge also seems to not consider this a problem in their cards and will probably never fix it.

I would be interested in hearing about anyone that has gone the winlirc route? Does it work?
