Hi everyone. I am currently in the process of setting up a HTPC and was wondering if I can use my MCE remote (Version 2 with no coloured buttons) /IR blaster with GBPVR to control a DishNetwork 301 receiver? I've done a bunch of searching on this site but I'm confused. Some posts say it is possible and others say it is not? I will be using MCE 2005 and would like to run GBPVR.

There is current no support for the IR Blaster, so you'd need to use some third party software like Girder if you need to use this.

Either HIP (from that link) or Girder should be able get your IR Blaster working.

I use Hip to contorl my sat box and it works well. you can also get it to change channels via the channel changer plugin.

Best of all it's free.

see the following thread

kewl, you have done what I'm setting out on doing. I can't download gbpvr right now because the main site is down, but I'll try again later. Keep in mind I haven't installed gbpvr yet. Does the HIP program have to run in the backround for this to work? I've played around with the HIP program and I was able to teach it a couple of Dishnetwork remote commands which was encouraging. Once I can download GBPVR I'll play with the setup, but I'm sure I'll have a million other questions. Thanks.
