Audio playback problems

Hi again, sorry for the flurry of posts (can you tell it's my first day?)

I'm getting a lot of pops/crackles/hisses during any kind of audio playback... What should I be looking for? I'm using onboard audio (Nvidia A7N8X motherboard).

This occurs during LiveTv, and Radio..i haven't tested any video playback yet..

Seems to be ok on Mp3 playback

It would be interesting to know how it works with video playback. And if you could move the mpg file to another computer and try it there, in order to test whether it's the recording that goes bad, or the playback.

The recordings are fine, and everything works great on playback. It appears to be only when it's live.

This is happening in dscaler also..so I'm not sure what I can do to fix this.

This is driving me insane..I'm usually pretty good with this stuff, but I don't even know where to start looking..it's just very frustrating after putting out so much for a tv tuner card. (Although watching recorded shows seems to be fine, however I will verify this again shortly)

What card do you have? Do you get the same effect in the card's native software? Do you get the same effect if you start watching a recording while it's still recording (as opposed to live tv)?

Sorry for not posting my configuration details:

AMD Xp-2500 (@ 1.83 ghz)
1 Gig of ram (2x 512mb)
Nvidia Nforce-2 A7N8X motherboard
Nvidia Geforce MX 5900
Hauppage PVR-500 MCE

Since I got the MCE model, it doesn't come with native software. :"(

I haven't tested using the non-live yet..I'll do that tonight

If it's happening in dscaler, and in live, then I'd wonder if dscaler is handling live (and not playback), and your problem is there.

Check what you have set as the decoder for a/v in the GB control panel. Try something safe like intervideo, and others if that doesn't help. Try disabling dscaler if is it doign post-processing.

I tried different decoders, and settled on Nvidias decoder...no problems now! AWESOME!
