gpvr.exe - doing something every 10 seconds?

Situation: Clean reboot of system and gbpvr, gbpvr sitting in welcome/home/main screen (whatever that's called Big Grin)
Behavior: Every 10 seconds, gbpvr.exe does something, using 25% of the CPU, for just a second or so...

Question: what's it doing? Can I make it stop doing it somehow?

Plugins: Weather, XRecord
Skin: Blue
Version: latest (95.16)

IIRC, updating the 'Next Recording' panel.

Can I disable that panel? I really don't need it (and with a 300 gig drive, kid, and wife, there are always many, many "next recordings" Big Grin)

Edit: Hmmm... found it in the main menu/skin.xml file, commented out the NextRecording panel line, restarted recording service and gbpvr.exe, but the regular process blip remains - so it is still doing something every 10 seconds even if the panel itself is not loaded in the skin.

Yes - you can disable the panel through the main menu skin.xml file in the panel settings...

I am not a 'skinner', so I can't remember how to do it without looking at it (I'm not at home at the moment), but I'm pretty sure someone more knowledgeable than me will be along to answer...

Ahhh - it is the screen saver! When it kicks in, every 10 seconds or so it fades the logo in and out someplace else, and that burns cpu.

Edit: so is there a lighter-weight screensaver? It's the logo fade in/out that seems to use CPU.

Well that was fun...

Ok, so the NextRecording thing burns 5-8% CPU every 5 or so seconds, *and* the screen saver burns 20% cpu every 5 or so seconds, and they both happen at the same time (which is odd for sure) so you end up with this 25% cpu spike (YMMV based on your system speed, but for me this is a P4/1.6ghz cpu)

Disable the screen saver in the config app
Disable the NextRecording in the main menu/skin.xml file (just comment the line out)

restart recording service, restart gbpvr.exe...

Perfect!
