Using GBPVR Interface on my TV?

Here's my situation. I have a happauge media mvp connected to my TV. I use it to stream recorded video from my PC to my TV. It's been working great for a couple years now. But, as many have noted, the hauppauge interface is just terrible, with the large icons and all.

So I am wondering, can I use GBPVR's interface through my TV to control the media mvp? If so, how?

I installed GBPVR. But I am only able to use the GBPVR interface on my PC. I turn on my TV and it still displays the ugly hauppauge interface. Am I missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brent

Basic instructions:

Stop the Hauppauge services. (The MVP tends to find the Hauppauge services first. You do have a DHCP server on your network right? The MVP needs to get a IP from someplace.

Open the Config app and set the MPV servers to autostart to 1.

Power cycle your MVP. (turn it off/on again)

Most importanly, read the forums and the Wiki. Its all here, not always in one place but its all here use the search.

Good Luck

What is the difference between the default software/interface that comes with the MediaMVP off-the-shelf and the MVP server app that I've been reading about?

Does it matter which is running on my machine? And how does that impact (if at all) using GBPVR?

Thanks A_Brass! I will try it tonight.

With GBPVR installed, do I even need the Media MVP software installed at all?

Yes, Sub reuses some of the MVP components for GBPVR to function on the MVP.

If your running GBPVR over the MVP its exactly that. The whole GBPVR interface on your MVP. Looks the same, works the same (with some exceptions). You get the whole GBPVR package(interface) on a noiseless little box. Beware some plugin's do not work on the MVP, and the MVP only supports MPEG2 video and MP3 audio, so all other formats need to be converted on the fly, which means you need a PC with the horsepower to transcode xvid or divx to mpeg2.

One other note, if you do play divx or xvid files over the MVP don't post message about the audio/video being out of sync. It's been discussed at lenth in the forum. All the available solutions are in here someplace.

When using the MVP your PC preformace shouldn't shouldn't be effected anymore than running GBPVR itself. The exception is the transcoding that takes place with viewing divx/xvid on the mvp. It will use all available resources.

Two other things you might need to do are:

- If you can't see Live TV or a show in the TV Guide, try going into the GBPVR config and increase the MVP Live TV delay.

- If the FF or skip doesn't work on you Haupauge remote, try going into the GBPVR config and unchecking short skip instead of FF/RW.
