I picked up a Hauppage WinTV-PVR-USB2 today and I can't seem to get it to work with gbpvr. It works fine with a demo of BeyondTV and with the WinTV software that came with the box. I followed the setup instructions in the Wiki but when I select the capture device as the box I have then click OK it tells me that drivers for the selected device are not installed. The device shows up fine in the Device Manager in Windows and as I said before works fine with other software.

One odd thing I have noticed is that the drivers on the CD that came with the device are a higher version than the ones on the hauppauge website, and if I try to install clean with the drivers on the hauppage website Windows won't allow it. The model is 941, but the actual part number is 24012, whereas it seems the normal part number for the WinTV-PVR-USB2 is something like 29xxx. I emailed Hauppage support about this as well but no answer yet.

Thank you in advance for your help,
Chris

Is this your first/only tuner?
If you want to know why nPVR is the bomb, ask my wife!

Are you sure you've got thw WinTV PVR-USB2, not the older WinTV PVR-USB?

Try to view live tv, then post your gbpvr.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

Hello sub,

Thank you for your help Smile

edit:

The box and device both say PVR-USB2, the Device Manager in Windows says it as well. The model number is 941 which lines up with the USB2 model as well.

Here is the log you asked for:

Thats odd. It basically looks like you dont have the Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 drivers installed in your machine.

Its looking for component called "Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 Crossbar" and its just not available on your machine.

I installed them straight off the CD, but like I said the ones off their website don't work with this device for some reason. I'm wondering if they made a hardware change without telling anyone. I can poke around in the new drivers and compare them to the old if you like, or email them to you if needed. I'll also post if I get any response from their support.

I'll see what their support comes up with. The strange thing is the other versions don't work, only the version on the CD, which is newer than anything on their website.

Thanks again for the help, I'll update this thread if I hear anything from them.

Update:
I noticed that the device in Windows shows up as WinTV PVR2 USB2, so I went into the direct.ini file and in the WinTV PVR USB2 section I changed all the entries for the crossbar and whatnot to have a 2 after the PVR, so they read WinTV PVR2 USB2.

Works like a charm now!

Thanks again for the help, hope this might help any new users who run into the same problem.
