I've got a PVR350 and just replaced the Pixelview 7000 with a PVR500MCE to get one more tuner. Now the Hauppauge remote will not work. Any suggestions to get the remote working again would be appreciated! Thanks.
Regards,
Hasso

That's a crazy thing:

I think, that the dominat controlling Card is now the PVR-500MCE. For this one you need the eHome Receiver plus the MCE Remote Control, which is only available by the Retail PVR-500 MCE.
Or you buy a normal MCE Remote from Microsoft.
The Remote Control from your PVR-350 can't be connected to the PVR-500.

A possible workaround were to stick out all the cards, set frist the PVR-500 into your system and add at last the PVR-350 to your system.

There's a good chance, that the PVR-350 as last will be dominat with it's IR-Receiver and Remote...

Just give it a try... (btw., i DISLIKE the PVR-500MCE Remote Control..., it's not really working with GB-PVR)

Well, I tried that. Removed all the drivers as per shspvr instructions, installed the PVR500MCE first, set it up in GBPVR, both tuners worked recording two shows at once (using keyboard and mouse for navigation). Installed the PVR350, reinstalled drivers. No luck. Remote still doesn not work. I heard other people are having problems as well, but haven't heard of anyone coming up with a solution.

Hasso

From reading other posts, looks like I'll need to use devcon to shut down both cards, start up the 350, restart ir.exe and then restart the 500. Will give that a try the next time my wife is away for a day's shopping so she won't see me opening up the PC yet again to switch cards ;-)

Hasso,

I just encountered the exact same problem (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=13992). I called the hauppauge hotline, they had no clue.
The trick is, u don’t have to open your system, deactivating the 500 card is enough, afterwards start the ir.exe, then reactivate the 500 card.

Devcon is definitely your solution.

You have to extract devcon into one folder. Than create a batch file containing the following (between the stars):

*******
@call devcon disable pci\ven_4444*dev_0016
@start c:\progra~1\wintv\ir.exe /quiet
@cls
@echo .
@echo The ping you see scrolling below is simply a wait designed to give IR
@echo ..
@echo a chance to start and verify it can work.
rem @pause
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 30 -w 1000
@cls

@echo thank you
@devcon enable pci\ven_4444*dev_0016
start c:\progra~1\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvrtray.exe
*****
http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=5352

With this batch you can do the above mentioned task automatically. Unfortunately, there is a pop up, which I did not get rid of… (the author doesn’t know how to do it neither (btw, very nice guy!).

The next problem is, that I want the batch file (which works perfectly) to start after hibernating. For this I found the following prog: http://www.rpi.edu/~desimn/suspendtrigger/index.html

Unfortunately, as soon as I told the prog to execute the batch file when resuming, the batch file did not work any more…:mad:

Any suggestions for the 2 problems?

Cheers,

todd

Thanks, todd. I did see this batch file, but haven't tried it. I have to wait until another quiet time (i.e wife not about wanting to use the PVR) before I slip in the 500MCE again.

re: your second problem. try using wake.cmd as outlined in this thread:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=84
I use that to get the TV out working properly on the PVR350 after hibernate, but should also work for doing what you want as well. Just put your batch file into the wake.cmd.

Hasso
