Did you check wether a bios-update is available for your machine. Sometimes a flaw in the bios takes the power off the card or so.

That hibernate trigger looks interesting, though!

I really hope you mange to fix it, else you will be damned to join the band of perpetually frustrated 350 owners.

oh what could have been.....

Yep - I'm quite determined - I have seen it working several times on my machine (though not consistently, and I'm trying to get to the bottom of that...)
For now I'm still convinced that I will get it working one way or the other Smile

Yep - My current BIOS runs on the latest update (as far as I recall its from march 2005) so that should be OK.

Hibernate trigger works like a charm, though it (initially) didn't solve my problem. Only tried it very quickly yesterday, so it is to soon to discard it yet.. This weekend it will be tested more thouroughly.
Today I got hold of the drivers that you are using Mabo - to test that option as well..

I will post good/bad news in the thread when I know more :o

By the way Mabo - I have attached my wake.cmd file - does it look ok to you?

GOOD news guys Wink

FINALLY got rid of the wake-from-hibernation-computer-freezes-up-when-trying-to-start-gbpvr problem. Big Grin

My system has been running for 2 weeks - 100% error-free!

Turned out that hibernate trigger did the trick for me after all!

All I do now is the following:

Just before hibernation - I close gbpvr with this command: taskkill /im gbpvr.exe

When the machine resumes from hibernation - it (re)starts gbpvr

Very simple and effective - I don't know if it is hardware related or what - but it just did the trick on my machine.
As long as gbpvr is shut down before hibernation - everything is fine Smile

Earlier on in this thread - I mentioned that I would try some other drivers for the hauppauge card to see if that would solve the problem.
I never got around to doing that, so for now I will keep running with these drivers (latest drivers from hauppauge february 2006).

If you have any questions - feel free to contact me, and I will supply the needed information!

Congratulations on your succes. So for now you are not using gbpvrwake anymore? Your wake.cmd in the previous post looked OK. Except for the fact you rem-ed out the commands for stopping and starting the ir.exe. But I assume you're not using it.

Thanx Mabo! Big Grin

That's right - I discontinued the use of gbpvrwake, and it has worked ever since :p

Yeah - I use direct access so using ir.exe is not necessary.. but thanx for looking Wink

I had similar problems with the TV-OUT on the PVR350, I eventually came up with a compromise which has resulted in a stable system, Infact I have just returned from a weeks holiday and had 100% success rate on the 30+ recordings that were made.

The problem occurs because the 350 hangs the system when the front-end attempts to use it when it has not been re-initialised. GBPVRWAKE was made available to kill the front end on wake-up and restart to force this initialization, however this causes problems as the hardware needs to be re-initliazed. If you do not put a command to run gbpvr in wake.cmd then the front-end is killed automatically and does not attempt to restart, this will get rid of the freezing problem and will allow recordings to succeed, as the recording service does not need to use the TV-OUT.

To start the front-end just program one of the buttons on your remote to launch it (e.g. green power button) then when you wish to watch a recording just press the button and wait for the front-end to load.

Since adopting this work-around strategy about 2 months ago, not one recording has failed because of a system freeze on startup. I do not find having to start the front-end manually particuarly a problem either.
If in the middle of a recording you wish to start watching another, then starting the front-end has yet to crash the pc, i believe that the card is most likely to crash the system if gbpvr is started when windows is still doing some boot work, a couple of times I have attempted to start gbpvr manually while windows was still thrashing the hard-drive on wake-up, and it crashed a few times, this has never occured when I have left it for a minute or two.
Maybe someone else can throw some light on this behaviour.

I hope others find this helpful.
