Problem: On the MVP, the screen is very dark when the subtitle feature is activated. It does not go away even when disabling the actual subtitles using the yellow key.

Do you have the 'fully transparent OSD' option enabled in the config app?

That did it. Unfortunately the fully transparent OSD now seems to crash the MVP in 10-15 minute intervals when watching a subtitled show.
