Up until now I have been starting the hauppauge software whenever I have had to unplug the mdiamvp or it has crashed. I decided to try to set up a DHCP server so that it would reboot from GBPVR but I've run into a problem. I have installed and setup DHCP Turbo on the server pc per the instructions from the mvpmc group except specified the bootfile as dongle.bin. For some reason there is also no option to set up the subnet mask (1) in the global named policies in my installation as shown in the instructions. The mvp gets to the third bar and stalls, the dhcp log says that it has given the mediamvp an ip address. As I understand it this suggests that GBPVR is not responding to the MVPs request for the dongle.bin? I have the firewall turned off.

I don't have access to my htpc at the moment and didn't have the presence of mind late last night to check the mvp settings in GBPVR but lacking this info can anyone make any suggestions what I should look for to get this working?

Whilst GBPVR doesn't act as a DHCP server, it does do the TFTP part of it. Try disabling those bootfile settings and let GBPVR sort out the DONGLE.BIN file itself.

When I had DHCP problems with an old router I used tftp32 which can act as a DHCP/TFTP. Its quite lightweight and best of all free! You (or anyone else reading this) may find it useful.

I can recommend tftp32 as well; I keep it in my toolkit and I used it to boot gbmvp.bin when I had problems.

That did the trick, I just unchecked the policies box on the address reservation window. Thanks.
