I recently have been having problems with the MVP connecting to the server. I am using the mvpmc dongle (since it supports WOL). It seems like the first time after the recording service is restarted, it connects fine.

Other times if I hit the emulate button, it doesn't connect the first time, but returns to the mvpmc screen. If I hit emulate again, it connects fine.

I've had a previous problem using the default dongle as well. It would not find the server and then it would just be stuck. If I just restart the recording service on the computer, then all would be fine.

I've attached the what I think are the relevant logs.

Thanks

The default time to connect to the server is 30 seconds, it sounds like there are times the recording service is taking longer than this to AutoStart a new server. I don't think people typically stop and restart the server to control connections, and even though your logs were not at a debug level I don't think there is much that logging would show.

AutoStarting a second server would probably improve the reload if you weren't stopping the service. One thing to check is that you ensure your GBPVR server has a fixed IP address.

Martin.

The only time I stop and restart the recording service is to "reset" the system once it stops working (allowing connections). Even if I keep retrying continuously hitting the emulation button, it will never connect to the server (until the PC is rebooted or the recording service is restarted).

I'll try starting two MVP servers to see if that helps. I do use static IP addresses on my network, so that should not be an issue.

Thanks for the help.

I misunderstood a bit, how are you getting back to the mvpmc menu? If your machine is going to sleep it could simply be that 30 seconds isn't long enough for it to wake up and you need to use the command line option ie --em-wolwt 50 or some value that works better for you.

The MVPMC shows "Connecting to first server (1/30)...", goes through all 30 tries, then just returns to the main mvpmc screen with the "emulate, settings, reboot..." buttons.

The PC is on, so I don't think that it is related to WOL at all. It refuses to connect to GBPVR until I restart the GBPVR recording service.

Set you log level to debug, autostart to 1, duplicate the problem and compress and upload your logs

Attached are the logs. I tried at about 12:15 pm on 6/28 to use the MVP, but it would not connect.

I stopped the recording server, exited GBPVR tray, and zipped the logs.

What happened just after 9? That is when the connection problem occurs. mvpmc lost the server and it only partially connected when you retried

Thats probably when I turned off the MVP. I don't typically leave mine on, and the problem seems to be when I turn it on the second time after a period of non-use.

If the MVP is just left on, is there network traffic with the server that would prevent the computer from going into stand-by?

Is it better to just leave the MVP on all the time?
