I recently set up a new system for use with GBPVR and am loving it so far. The system is a clean Windows XP install on a machine only used for GBPVR. And Athlon 64 3200 with a gig of ram and a dedicated 250 gig recording drive.

I do have a couple of questions though. These are minor issues but it would be nice to resolve them. They both involve stuttering video.

1) When I am watching a recording and the recording service wakes itself to record another program I see for maybe a second or two a pretty pronounced stutter. Is it normal for the start of a recording to cause this behavior in playback?

2) I have been having a ever so minor stutter every 10 or 15 minutes. I have been experimenting to narrow it down. After much messing around I decided tonight as I sat down to watch 24 after it recorded that I would disable plugins before and then watch it. Well, I did not notice a stutter during that recording. It has only been one show so I know it is not definitive but it sure looks to be a plugin.

The plugins installed were

Comskip - Set to run when the program has finished recording. Most times I have noticed skips it has not been running.

My Pictures, My Music, My Video - All are installed.

Theater listing - I pull the listings manually still so it should be idle.

Weather - Set to pull weather every 60 minutes.

That's it.

My first thought is that it has something to do with comskip as I have only noticed the skip during recorded programs and not videos played through either Video Library or My videos. I don't believe it is a recording glitch as I can hit the back skip button and the same spot will not skip again.

I was wondering if it is somehow related to the setup. I have "Comskip.Exe
from current Directory" selected on the processing tab. I have Auto Skip Commercials set in the misc tab. Could it be a glitch with the Auto Skip option? I think my next experiment will be to turn that off and watch one of my existing programs. I'll need to find the remote reference to manually skip the comskip breaks then.

Those are my 2 minor items currently. If anybody can maybe save me some time troubleshooting that would be great! It's truly a great program and once I pay for all the hardware I used to set this up I will more than likely be donating.

This does not sound normal to me. I have never noticed it, your computer has quite a *lot* more horsepower than mine. If you are positive that this happens when the recordingservice kicks in, I'd check the priority on the processes. Does the recording service have higher priority than gbpvr.exe? In such case you could try to increase the prio of the gbpvr.exe and see if that helps. If it does, then you could check the thread below for a permanent solution.

Press play during a break.

I have this same problem(at least when watching timeshifted TV, do not know if it happens on recordings but will test) and I thought it was normal. I did set GBPVR.exe to above normal and it has not changed the behavior. I also am using an Athlon 64 3200 with a gig of ram and am recording to a dedicated 300 gig. Timeshifted TV buffers to a different drive.

I'll test later but I just checked and all three GBPVR processes (The main program, recording and tray) are running at normal priority.
