Hi, this is my first post I hope someone will be able to help.

I currently have a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T and an Nvidia 6200 based graphics card, I was curious if anyone else is using these cards and if so what playback and DVD decoders have they found to work best with them?

Recently I done a bit of a hardware upgrade to my HTPC and re-installed the OS and the latest version of GBPVR (0.97.7). Since then when I try to watch TV, quite a few of the channels seem very jerky (not a constant video or audio) and changing channels seems to go slow as well. Watching recordings or avi files works fine.

I was previously running GBPVR 0.96 with an ATI Radeon 8500 64MB, and I did not have these same problems.

I have not yet tried going back to GBPVR 0.96, as I assumed that these problems are more likely to be with the setup of my new graphics card. If anyone has a similar combo of hardware I'd like to hear about what sort of setup you have found provides the best performance.

The current Playback Decoders available are:
InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder (currently selected)
InterVideo Video Decoder
MainConcept Video Decoder

I am also running on VMR9, tried 7 and overlay but did not make any difference to the playback.

Current Hardware Config:
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
768MB DDR
Asus A7N8X Deluxe (Nvidia Unified Driver v5.10)
XFX 6200 256MB AGP (Driver v84.21)
Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T PCI (Driver v2.5.24111, from latest CD image download on there website)
HDD1: Samsung ST240016A 40GB IDE (OS, Windows XP Pro)
HDD2: Samsung SP2504C 250GB SATA (Recordings)

Previous Hardware Config:
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
768MB DDR
Abit KR7A-Raid
ATI Radeon 8500 64MB AGP
Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T PCI
HDD1: Samsung ST240016A 40GB IDE (OS, Windows MCE2005 & Recordings)

Thanks for any help you can give.

I agree with Peterh. I was using an Nvidia 6200 and had problems in the 96 version of GBPVR. Switching to my old ATI 7500 AIW solved this intantaniously.
Regards Koen,

GBPVR 1.4.7
AMD 780G with X2 BE2350, 2gb ram, LCD-TV, Win XP
PVR500, PVR150 & PVC150 MCE MediaMVP D3A, 2 networked clients

The Nvidia cards tend to have more problems with Directshow than ATI cards. Some people have got their Nvidia cards working well while others have endless problems. But in general ATI users have little problems.

Have you tried installing the DirectX9b quartz.dll?

The Intervideo decoder is also prone to studder. I suggest trying the Purevideo decoder or DScaler5.

If you can get this jerking issue resolved, the Nvidia 6200 should give a better picture than the 8500 because it has DXVA and hardware deinterlacing which the 8500 does not.
