For all those people from Ontario, Canada, this if you have your conservation bureau coupons. I've been looking to remote control my lights and I've finally started. It's not an HTPC solution, but this works quite well - an RF remote control too. The remote can control up to four lights and has a master on/off.
Get the coupon for $5 off an electrical timer as shown here (you should have gotten this in the mail - if not ask a neighbor):

Then head off to Canadian tire and buy these two:
Remote Controlled Timer:

Funny thing is buying the two parts separately is cheaper than buying them in a package.
PS...the timer seems to be working for CFL light bulbs as well (some only work for incandescent light bulbs)
