Hi all,
I am trying to get this setup for the first time and I am having a few problems. I think I am close though, if someone could give me a nudge (kick?) in the right direction.
I just bought a dell dimension 8400, 3.2GHz P4 w/ 1gig RAM. It had a 128 MB PCI-x ATI Radeon x300 SE video card that I plan on using as the video out to the tv. I put in a Hauppauge150 tuner card. I am running XP Home, since that is what came with the system. I am planning on using this setup with a satellite receiver coming in through the S-Video.
Just to test the hardware, I installed the WinTV that came with the tuner card. I can get the antenna and the S-Video inputs to be displayed on the computer. I can get the windows screen to be displayed on the TV, but for some reason I don't actually see the tv part of the WinTV. Oh well, I want GBPVR anyway so never mind that detail.
I downloaded the latest GBPVR (97.7) and followed the wiki on the initial setup. I installed .NET 2.0 and had directx 9.0b already. I setup my capture source and it saw the card just fine. I left the audio and video renderings options alone, at the system default, for the playback. Setup and got the EPG info, so I am getting there.
When I fire it up and try to watch LiveTV, I get the error message: "Error: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other menory is corrupt." I have dinked around a little bit with some of the settings, but I always get this message. I did a search here and found someone else with the same problem

The exact solution for him wasn't exactly clear, but it involved removing a dll called MyPictures.dll. I did a quick search and didn't find that file. I did go in the Config program and disabled the plugin. Same problem.
I also tried playing a dvd through GBPVR this morning, and the audio and video were all chopped up and disjointed. I again tried to play with some of the playback settings as far as the decoding goes, but no luck. The powerDVD program that came with the PC seems to work just fine, so I believe the hardware is up to snuff.
Sorry for the long-winded post, but I figured I might as well post everything I have done up to this point. I am not sure what to try next?
TIA, Rdog
