Intermittent video playback problems

I've had problems with my gbpvr system (v0.96.12) locking up during replay of recorded shows. This can happen with fast forwarding (rewinding, etc) or right in the middle of play. Sometimes it doesn't freeze the system altogether but navigating through the system menu takes a long time requiring a system restart.

(NOTE) When I exit playing a video I'll get a dialogue box with the message "Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." to which I select OK to get back to the menu.
