I have a generic version of an MCE remote (not the microsoft one). It came with my MSI PVR 550 card. Most of the functions work but I cannot get the "pause" to work. Unfortunately "pause" is also the trigger to start time shifting.
The remote has a single button to function as both "play" and "pause", so I suspect that this may be the problem.

Anybody have an idea what I could do to fix this? I would like to avoid using resources to run additional interfaces like HIP or Girder since this is the only button giving me problems.

There is no built in support for this specific remote - its not one I own. A few users have indicated in the past that the built in MCE support doesnt work correctly with this MSI remote.

Sorry, but for now you'll need to look at HIP or similar might be your only option to get it completely working.

It works completely. I have no problems with it sending signals or gb-pvr receiving the signals. I am having a problem with how GB-pvr handles the signals. There are multiple MSI remotes, maybe a different one does not work.

My problem is that the play and pause buttons are one in the same on the remote, so when that button is pushed, only a single code can be sent. It is up to the program (gb-pvr) to determine what to do. Clearly GB-PVR expects two separate signals for pause and play, where other applications can use the same signal and merely alternate between pause and play. I need to find a way to make this work correctly, or find a way to make another button start time-shifting mode.

Would it be possible in the next update to have the play and pause keystroke the same. for example Ctrl-Q is pause and Ctrl-P is play.
Could you made gb-pvr pause the TV/video is it is playing and play the TV/video is it is paused.
Im no programer, SO im not sure how hard it would be to implement this change.
