I've just done a clean install of v0.98.08, keeping my previous config and database files. The install went okay, but I'm trying to re-map and add some channels. When I go to edit my capture source, the channel listing is empty. I select "Map digital channels to EPG channels" and I get the message that I need to update my EPG. I then proceed to run Update EPG, but the channel list is still empty and if I again try and select to Map the channels I get the same message telling me I need to run update EPG first.

I've tried clicking ok after updating the epg, and ok again to exit the config and then going back into config and clicking "Map digital..." but still the same problem.

I then tried clicking Empty EPG, and it seemed to run okay, then Update EPG but still not channels showing up.

I ran Empty EPG again and okayed my way out of config. When I took a look at the config log there was the following error:

07/10/2006 14:03:00.882 ERROR [1] Error int emptyEPG(captureSource): The database file is locked
database is locked
07/10/2006 14:03:00.882 ERROR [1] Stack:

I was not running GBPVR, and I've tried stopping the recording service and then going in to Config to run Empty EPG, but I keep getting the same issue.

I've attached a zip file with 2 config logs, one is a log of after doing an Empty EPG, and another after an Update EPG.

Appreciate any help, thanks

A couple of people have had this. I'm not sure why it happens, but if you reboot, or restart the GB-PVR software, then it should come right.

I've added some additional diagnostic information in the next release which will track it down for us.

Unfortunately I've tried restarting both the PC and the software and I keep getting the same issue.

I've renamed my gbpvr.db3 to something else, and then started up Config so that it created a new database file. When I then re-create my Capture Source, it then works, I am able to update the EPG. Of course this isn't really good news because I won't be able to keep the the information on the shows I've recorded (would I?).

On my database file I've also attempted removing the Capture Source, and then re-creating it, but that didn't work either, seems my only option is to start with a clean databae. :-(

Is there any way of testing the database to ensure their aren't any corrupt entries?

Thanks

You problem seems to be caused by something it cant load from the database. Its not immediately clear to me exactly what data it is having problems with though. If you email you database over to me at support@devnz.com, then I'll take a look.

I have modified GB-PVR for the next release so that this problem would not result in this database lock error.

This error occurred because you copied your gbpvr.db3 and config.xml from a previous release over your v0.98.8 install. You cant do this - these files are not compatible between releases. They can only be copied onto the version of GB-PVR that they originally came from.

The result was you ended up using a v0.97.13 database with v0.98.8, which had problems because required columns in the database were missing.

I've emailed you a fixed database.

Thanks that worked.

How does the upgrade process generally work? As I had problems upgrading, I deleted all the files and folders in the gbpvr folder, leaving only config.xml and gbpvr.db3, and deleted all registry settings, and then I done an install of v0.98.08. I didn't install gbpvr and then copy my files over the newly created database file with my old one.

Does an upgrade have to be over an entire folder for it to work properly?

An upgrade is designed to be installed over an already working (previous) version of GB-PVR.
