Good luck JK. I hope you do better with the xp-install than I did, I had my drive letters all mixed up, took me a few hours to get that sorted.
Well I eventually did "give up" did a zehd and "didn't ask why, just reinstalled".
I had a nice "no-recordings window" for a day or two so I went for it.
All went well, re-installed bit by bit, behaviour was fine (even with MVPTrayicon), I tested for the "bad" behaviour after each new program was installed.
The bad behaviour returned after I installed SpamPal 1.73j (Beta, but any version with LSP does not work)). It installs a transparent layer service proxy (LSP) and not even adding GBPVRRecording Service.exe or GBPVR.exe to the list at "SpamPal Options - Advanced - Programs - Don't filter" helped.
I also tried adding config.exe to that list; THAT locked up config.exe without even getting to the separate "Information" wondow, the latter being what usually locks up. Closing the MVP Media Server Window i sthe only thing that helps. I don't see that the window has a seperate name, so I can't add it to the list of things to filter.
Even when you close Spampal the behaviour remains. You need to actually UNinstall it OR just remove the (LSP) Proxy (it took me a VERY along time to work this out) and simply configure Spampal using the conventional SpamPal setup. I really hope this helps some other poor GBPVR user.
My apologies to sub for doubting him :-).
That's Final Closure on this issue.
