Hello, Recently I formated my hard drive and instead of reinstalling Windows Media Center Edition, I installed Windows XP Professional SP2.

I have a Microsoft Media Center Edition Version 2 remote.

I then downloaded GB-PVR and would like to get my remote to work fully with GB-PVR. So far the remote works great except for the fact that I can't launch GB-PVR when I press the green button. An additional plus would be being able to access the F7 function with the remote.

I read the guide and searched the forums and have been having no luck with getting HIP to work with my remote. After hours of trying, I still can't figure out the HIP program. BTW, I did install the reccomended drivers, I just can't figure out the program. However, I do feel confident that I can import a configuration file. So here goes...does anyone have a Hip configuration file they could send me for my remote?

BTW, I love the program and am very happy. Thank you very much for everyone who has spent so much time working on this project.

The way I got mine to work was through this part of the HipGuide;
Quote:The PC button on the MCE remote can be used to trigger a Windows Shutdown/standby/hibernate/restart function, but these are only accessible in the Alternate Input section of the Preferences window.

To do this, go to menu: File/Preferences/Tab: Alternate Input. Click the button ‘Add Value’ and teach HIP the ‘PC’ button from the MCE remote in the same way as above. Scroll down the list of ‘System Keys / Predefined Keys’ and you will find this list is different from the list of options available when you add a code via the Main Configuration. There are four options listed here, one for each of the standard Windows power options, so select whichever is appropriate to you. If you are using GBPVR on a multipurpose PC, you could also assign the PC button just to close GBPVR, which is also available on this list of System Keys. Press ‘OK’ to add the PC button to the list of commands in the Alternative Input window.

I have my green button set to start gbpvr and the power button to close it.

Thanks Awperator for your quick reply. Do you have the same remote as the one pictured above?

If you do, I would be very happy if you could send me your configuration file. my email is totallygreen@gmail.com

Or maybe you could attach it to a reply.

For the life of me I just can't get the program to work. I did have it working last night, but then I restarted the computer and when I restarted Hip and pressed the Green button, all I got was a Beep sound.

Now I have literally about a dozen different configuration files that I have saved from trying different things. None of them work. Sad

Thanks again for you help.

You could give this one a bash.

You need to remove the .txt extension from the file after downloading it. It uses the original eHome drivers, and fills in the blanks. Switched back to the eHome drivers as I found the other drivers to be unstable after standby/hibernate cycles. this could have added to the confusion if its happening to you too...

In this config, the power button is tagged to an exe that i got from the forum. The exe is a simple script written with AutoIt which starts GBPVR from the desktop if its not loaded, and if it is loaded, takes you to the System menu. Very useful...I cant remember where on the forum it was but im sure if you do a search for 'power' and 'autoit' then you should be able to find it.

Thanks for posting the config file, but still no luck.

Some observations:
I found the exe file on the forum and placed it on my desktop. When I double click it, I get an error message that the system can not find the specified file. If I place the file in the GB-PVR install directory and double click it, then it launches the program.

Also, in your post you mention a power button on the remote. My remote does not have a power button. It has a green start button in the middle(Microsoft icon on the green button). There is also a small Pc button on the top right of the remote. I wonder if we have different remotes?

Thanks for your help.

Ok I finally think I got it working. Think you Ricklous, your config file ended up working perfectly.

I guess the problem is that the hipsend program has to be running? and after I restarted, it wasn't running. Anyways, I think that was the problem. Thanks again for the help and the config file.

Sorry, that's what I meant. The pc button. Glad you got it working!
