Hello,
I cant seem to track down a bothersome problem and figured Id post hoping someone else has experienced the same issue. I recently did a board upgrade on my PVR to a P4 2.4 ghz with 1GB of ram, prior to this I was running on a P3 1 Ghz with 512 mb (was working ok, but kinda pushing it).

Now I experience random restarts. When it reboots I get the message:
Windows Has Recovered From A Serious Error, send/dont send error report. I have checked the system logs and there is a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL entry. But I have loaded the current versions of all the drivers from the manufacturers sites and cant get this to go away. Here is the hardware, hopefully someone can help me sort this out, its driving me NUTS!

ECS mobo (sorry at work, dont recall exact model number, there are only 2 bios versions for this board and i have the most recent from 2004 i think) no video onboard.
hauppauge PRV-350 (current driver from their site), using 45 button remote, not using vid out from the card due to lockup problems
nVidia Geforce 440 MX (64 mb) vid card w/ s-video out (drivers from their site) using VR7 as card is not VR9 compatible.
Audigy SB2 audio card (drivers from their site, mobo sound disabled in bios)

Aside from the board, processor, and ram at the time i did the upgrade I also switched the HD configureation (drive 0 40 gb OS drive, drive 1 80 gb for recording storage, and a CDr drive) and installed the sound card (on board sound was messed up, disabled it.)

If anyone can shed some light on this it would be much appreciated! BTW it doesnt seem to really matter what you are doing at the time of the restart, most often the system is idle and i do not realize it has happened until i turn the TV back on and have to login again and reopen the program. although it has happened while watching TV, have not experienced it while recording was in process.

THANKS!

It could be lots of things. Buggy drivers, flakey power supply or memory, heat.

When you get a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error, it often identifies the module also, which is the name of manufacturer's driver that caused the crash. Do you have a module being identified when this occurs? This info might also be listed in the Windows Event Viewer.

I used to have this same error occuring with my DVB-C device, which was next to my video card. Moving it to another slot resolved the issue. I think the video card heatsink a couple of millimeters away from the DVB-C was just too hot for it.

ran a memory check and it came out OK, I moved the card around inside the case and cleaned out some dust, so far so good. The way I had the cards arranged they were getting pretty hot, hopefully that will solve the problem, thanks for your help!
