Hi,

I have looked around the forum and found nothing similar to this. Help or suggestion would be appreciated.

I have been using gbpvr for a while and everything was working correctly. My pc died and I had to install it on a new pc, running XP Home Edition, SP2. All the user accounts have Admin rights. If the first account I log in after system boot is the main account (the account used to install pvr150 and gbpvr), everything works fine, even if I close the main account and log into another account. However, if after system boot the first user account I log in is not the main account, then it looks like if there were no signals coming out of the pvr150 (black screen, no audio). Whether I use the proprietaty Wintv2000 or gbpvr, I get the same thing.

I use gbpvr 0.99.5 and pvr150 with latest drivers.

Thanks, Ze.

Maybe it has to do with the account gbpvrrecservice is running under?

Hi,

I would be surprised it is related since there is no signal even in the Hauppauge Wintv2000 application.

This kinda suggests that the main account has an application set in the 'Startup' folder that is initialising something (or possibly in the 'Run' section of the registry). But that doesn't really make sense to me.

I would try a few things...

1. Startup the machine and login as any account that ISN'T the main account.
2. Right-click 'My Computer' and select Manage. Go to Device Manager and check 'Sound, video and game controllers' to make sure the PVR-150 doesn't have a yellow circle with exclamation mark or a red circle with an X in it.
3. Also check 'Services' to verify the GB-PVR Recording service has started.
4. Check the Event Viewer to see if there are any errors logged that might suggest a device has failed to start.

Cheers,
Brian

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try this. Regarding the EventViewer, where do I see this (kinda newbie in that area).

Thanks again!

When you select 'Manage' after right-clicking My Computer, everything you need is there. The Event Viewer, Device Manager and the 'Services and Applications' section are all in the tree in the left-hand pane - Event Viewer is towards the top.

Cheers,
Brian

Just to keep you informed. I never found what was really the issue. Everything looked ok in all the profiles. I finally decided to remove everything with the hwclear.exe utility and installed the latest drivers from hauppauge and now everything is fine.

Thanks for the help.
