I am experiencing random slow motion audio/video playback on shows I record.
It doesn't happen on all recordings, just every few days one will be goofed up, and only play in slow-mo.
I have a fresh Windows XP Pro installation.
graphics card = Nvidia MX440
tuner = WinTV PVR USB2
codec installed = DivX (for playback of downloaded content)
I have used VMR9 & VMR7 and received the same results.
Any tips on how to fix this?
... my wife is getting pissed when I get a corrupt recording of Heroes or American Idol... Rolleyes

Is it a recording or playback problem? ie, does bad files always behave this way, even when played on another machine?

Yes.
I can exit GBPVR and play the file using Windows Media Player, and it is still in slow motion.
I also transfered the slow-mo recordings to another computer... same result.
They always play like they were recorded in slow motion.
... baffled ...

Ok. A recording problem is the worst, since you're pretty much at the mercy of the device and its drivers. All I can really suggest is trying different drivers and hopefully you'll find some that work better for you.

There is no GB-PVR settings that would affect this.

I presumed it would be an encoder/decoder problem.
What "different drivers" are you talking about?
To all of my hardware? IE: video card, WinTV PVR USB2, etc.
Also... would the DivX or a FFDshow decoder produce this result?

If its a recording problem, then its most likely the encoder, which in this case is the hardware on the PVR USB2

I was referring to different versions of the Hauppauge PVR USB2 drivers.

Assuming it is a recording problem, then decoders would have no impact on this. Decoders are only used during playback.

Understood.
My search for different drivers begins.
I'll post my results. (this may take a couple weeks, as this problem is intermittent)
Thank you for the quick responses...

That poster had the same video card I have. I wonder if he used the WinTV PVR USB2 like I am. Curious)

I'm having this issue on all recordings off my HDHomeRun on my office machine.

LiveTV of the HDHR plays fine. Recordings are all in slow mo.

I read that thread in the link above and saw the suggestion to try using VideoRedo. VideoRedo plays the video fine while WMP and GBPVR play it in slow mo.

'show video Program Information' gives me this:
Code:
File Name: D:\gbpvr\Recordings\Beauty and the Geek\Beauty and the Geek_20071023_19002000.mpg
File Size: 4588623872 ( 4.27 GB )
Program Duration: 00:42:19.02
File Type: PS - MPEG2
Encoding: MPEG 2
Video stream Id:  xE0
Encoding Dimensions:  1920 x 1080
Display Size:  1920 x 1080
Aspect Ratio:  16/9
Frame Rate:  29.97 FPS
Bit Rate:  19.393 Mbps
VBV_Buffer:  976 KB
Profile:  Main/High
Progressive: Prog or Int
Chroma:  4:2:0
Audio Format:  2.0
Audio Stream Id:  AC3: 0 (x80)
Audio Bit Rate:  384 Kbps
Audio Sampling Rate:  48000 Hz

Currently using ATI MPEG codecs, but I've also tried Intervideo CSS with the same thing.

I just tried VLC player and the clip plays fine in it too. I'm stumped.
MY PVR:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Hardware: Silverstone LC13-E, Athlon II 250, Asrock 785GMH, 2GB Corsair RAM, 250GB WD HDD, 1TB WD Black, Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE tuner (s-video to Dish STB), HDHomeRun (ATSC x2), MCE2004 for Rx, USB-UIRT for Tx, Sony VL600 Remote, 36" Sony Wega HD CRT on DVI to embedded ATI HD4200.
TV Service: Dish Network and Antenna Pics 'n Details
