I'm starting a new thread, for covering changes to the GBPVR web Admin. Attached is a sample screen mockup for an Advanced Episode Search function. It will allow for searching by a Phrase or Keyword in either Episode Title, or Description. Items that are already scheduled to be recorded will show up with a red background.

I don't have a huge amount of time to run the Web Admin changes, but figured at least I'd get the thread started. I personally don't plan on adding too much to the web admin, as the episode guide, manager, and the missing search/scheduling function are all I think are needed.

Anyway, feel free to add to this thread, any related projects you have going. Maybe somebody that has enough free time could eventually combine efforts to put a consistent look and feel to everything.

More info once I get the search/scheduler working.

Is it hard to allow search in both the title and description fields?

Does "season" mean "all shows going in the channel and at the timeslots I have selected below"?

This advanced search function would be nice to have.

Shouldn't be too hard. I'll just change the options from Radio buttons to Check Boxes. If both are checked, I'll have the backend code just check for the phrase in both places.

I could make the episode name a link, so that it brought up more detailed information. Probably would be helpful for those that do searches in the program description.

Season, just means for that Channel that has been checked. The other Season ignores channel, and just records all Episodes that have that keyword in them.

Will also, add an option to set the default Recording Type. That functionality won't be active though until after Sub has the next release out.

Quick update on this:

I have Title Keyword Search working.

Scheduling of the Recordings isn't implemented yet. I'll work on keyword search in the program description next. Once that is done, I'll tackle the recording options.

Update:

1. Split the search and record pages into seperate pages to make coding and maintenance easier. Each page will have an option to move back to the search, guide, or manage pages. You may search by either title, description or both title and description.

2. Created recording page. If results are found, then a table with the results is shown. Each episode found will have a check box next to it. The recording page will have at the top a Recording Optins section. This is where you can set Recording Qualities (when it is made available to the API), and Recording Type. Daily, Season (by channel), and Season, All Channels (whatever channel the episode shows up on).

Hopefully, in the next couple of days I'll have the code in place for the actually scheduling the recording.

I'm going to put these basic items together, and then thedocwat or anybody else can pretty them up.

Update:

From the Search Results, you can now schedule an individual episode to record from the search results. Works just like the program guide. Click on the Episode Title, and the Details page opens allowing you to either record the episode or close the window. If you close the window it takes you back to the search results page.

I'll work on batch recording of episodes next, and possibly the various season recording methods. I'll also add some color coding to let you know which episodes are already scheduled to be recorded.

Looks good KingArgyle now that I have the web admin working (thanks again for that) the first thing I thought of was adding a search to the page. I've done a fair amount of ASP dev work but almost none in .NET, so it's nice to see someone else has the ball rolling.

Is there somewhere we can download the search script?

John, do a search for the Enhanced Web Admin thread. I've already started the search pages. All source code is included and can be modified as you wish. I made a few slight enhancements to the Manage recordings page as well.
