Hi all,

I am using GB-PVR with an hauppauge 1600 and in the configuration under the playback/hardware decoder device it only lists a Hauppauge PVR-350 and a Sigma designs X-Card. Should my 1600 not be listed in there? When I do a channel scan it takes a long time and never finds anything, where as with the Wintv software it comes with I get 12 channels both SD and HD. Would this be do to the fact when I choose a card in the tuning application it only lists the hauppauge 1600(Analog) as a choice?

Also when I run the BDA muxchecker it doesn't find anything. I am running winxp sp2.

Would really love to get this program working as it looks way better then wintv that hauppauge comes with.

(FINAL EDIT)

SWEET JEEBUS!!!! I got it working. Read a thread about mapping digital channels and now I get the 7 channels. Had to map some channels to channels the epg didn't have but ah well. SWEET!!!
Thanks all for the help...

No, the hardware decoder is for mpeg decoding (for watching a recorded or live show). Only those two devices have that. The 1600 is a hardware encoder.

I'll have to let someone on your side of the pond answer this, since I know virtually nothing about your tv cards/tv systems... Sad

You are definitely correct Smile

Welcome to gbpvr!

Ignore playback/hardware decoder. this part is mostly redundant now and not applicable to your tuner.

you need to add the tuner by going into "capture sources"

Analogue tuner
Use direct recording plugin, then go into settings.

ATSC tuner
Use BDA plugin, then settings

Set bother tuners to device #1

You then need to add channels. On the analogue, these may be created when you import your EPG, for ATSC, editing the tuner might enable you to scan channels. I have no idea as I don;t have this tuner.

There have been serveral posts from others using this tuner so hopefully someone with some actual experience will come along and help you out if you need more help.

Search the forum for "1600"

good luck

you can follow the 3rd sticky thread to get DBA Mux. As for HD channels, are you scanning using the OTA antenna or using cable with WinTV?

Depends on your location, you can get some OTA channels. qam is not support yet on this release.

Ok so I have it setup like you mentioned gEd and also found a muxer.
I setup the EPG using Zap2it. But I still get no channels. When I do a scan the tuning app locks up most of the time or it does get through all the channels and still finds nothing and then the tv app locks up.

I am using a Samsung axession antenna (silver sensor look alike) hooked to the atsc part of the tuner card trying to get OTA channels.
Not worried about QAM as I have satelite for tv.

Dunno what else to try.

Quick addon: I changed recording source to BDA recording plugin and then did a map digital channels to EPG and it found 7 channels and I can see them in the little preview window I just don't know how to figure out what digital channel maps to what station and how to keep them.
Thanks...

GB-PVR has no way to know what digital is which EPG channel either, which is why it leaves this up to you to determine. You'll probably just have to watch it for a while to work it out.

For each channel found, click on the 'tuning request' column in the channel list to perform the mapping. After that, these channels should be kept.
