Ok I imported the configuration file and changed the channel changer in the gbpvr config to the .exe option and pointed it to HIP.exe.... no luck.
Did I miss something else?

Ahhh I see so I only use the channel changer option for STB. Well, I don't have one of those. I just want to use the remote directly on the computer to change channels and navigate through the menus. I'm not really sure what you were saying about the changing the alternate input options and the whole DVD/remote thing but I'm at work now so I'll give it a try when I get home.

Thanks again

.... Well I changed the setting under DVD/Remote to MCE and I also switched the channel changer option to none; still no luck. I noticed in one of the HIP the windows there is an MCE OK message in the bottom right corner with a little red dot next to it. Shouldn't this light up if I press a button on the remote? I really think the problem I'm having is driver related, but the only place that I found drivers for this HP IR receiver is in the Roll Up Update I installed; unless HIP has some sort of built in driver.

I emailed HIP support and as it turns out HIP does have it's own driver and there is even a tutorial on how to set it up.
http://www.byremote.com.au/Hip/mce_remote_faq.htm

However, when I point to the inf file I get "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware." So I figured Windows was just being stubborn. I went as far as to actually backup all the dll's and sys files Windows was using for this device and then deleted any reference of them; hoping this would force windows to accept the HIP driver. Well, it stop Windows from installing it's version of the driver, but it still won't accept the HIP version. So that won't work, he explained to me that inly thing left is through the keyboard interface, which I think means through the keyboard itself. If that's the case I think I'm just gonna have to purchase the USB-UIRT since it includes drivers.

I bought the USBUIRT and it works great now Girder is picking up the signals from the remote with no problems. I haven't tried it with HIP as Girder seems little easier and faster to configure. Anyway, I'm off to get it to work with GBPVR.
